Well he might have been the equivalent of Sokka if he hasn't already been described that way. If he starts busting out a wind sword and using it like master pian dou, then we have our answer

Makes sense, also explains why he knew so much about airbending philosophy, what better way to surprise enemies then to attack them using the style of a dead society?

Howdy.
I was very pleased to see that while Zaheer knows more about airbending than 99.9% of the population, he's still kind of a novice at it. I only wish we could have seen more of his 'fight' with Tenzin. I also wish I knew what the hell he was after. I just hope it's nothing as over the top as last season. Mind you, I actually liked Unalaq more than most and thought he had a cool scheme... but I don't want the Red Lotus to suddenly become the Legion of Doom in two episodes...

Well I like that they seem like a cross between the last 2 seasons villains. Amon was all about political upheaval while Unalaq was all about the supernatural. Zaheer seems to have ties to both, so hopefully his scheme has implications on both.

Am I the only one that liked Zaheer better with hair? Also Guru Laghima would be over 4,000 years old at this point, so I'm going to make a safe bet he's not around. Maybe in the spirit world

On the subject of the game, does anyone else think it might be interesting to have the Avatar be twins where they can each only bend two of the elements? or is that just my silliness..

Not nearly as painful as airbending will be, teaching a stubborn guy who's instincts are too stand their ground to fly around like a fairy, doesn't sound like a fun time.

Aha! I figured it out. 'Kill the Air Nation'. He doesn't have to even touch the other Airbenders... all he needs is to kill Tenzin, the only proper Airbender left alive. It'd be just like killing the Earth Queen. The whole culture is reset without having to murder innocents, something that struck me as OOC for Tenzin.
Has anyone considered the idea that Korra isn't a target because she's the Avatar, but also because she's heir to the Southern Water Tribe leadership?
Hou Ting dies=Chaos in the Earth Kingdom Tenzin dies=Chaos in the Air Nation Korra dies=Chaos in the world, specifically the Water Tribes Zuko's already leaving to protect his kids
I don't think their plans have really changed in the slightest. Guru Laghima is just expressing their philosophy, and yes, Zaheer is spiritual, but he has yet to declare spiritual backing. His plan is still what they said it was in the second episode. Overthrow the world's governments.

Desna and Eska are awesome haha. But to be fair, we could make all of the training masters painful for an earth bender.

I'd rather not have it Post-Korra, since everyseason of Korra rewrites the universe in the most extreme way.

No, you misunderstand. It's not like ASOIAF where the stuff exists, we just never knew about it. I mean, the world simply changes entirely every season. It becomes a different setting with every twist.
S1 introduced mecha, electricity, planes, radio, all kinds of 20th century technology. S2 introduced Vaatu and Raava, Dark Avatars, and turned the world into a playground for spirits. S3 introduced a lot of airbenders and rewrites the political landscape in a big way.
That's why I think it'd be more maneageable to set in a time thaat's more static.

Also, are we going to let people choose between bending/non bending and which nation? Just think if it's a choice we will see an influx of fire bending rather then a nice balance.

I so call water bender then (and if you are allowing specialties then snow as well even though it's in that chart as being air/water)

Will I be allowed a polar-bear dog? I can be chief or whatever of the southern water tribe, wouldn't want northern, if we are following canon it's way too big for me

I think Zack said he wanted to be a metalbending cop. Metalbending ex-cop turned bounty hunter. Maybe with a bit of chi blocking. Haha unless Dark Avatar is an option, in which case your souls will be mine!!!

Then the Boba Fett of the Avatarverse sounds good to me. Or "Man with No Name" for those Western fans out there.

Can we spirit bend?

I guess energy bending is what I meant. Also for future reference for the actual familiarizing ourselves with the martial arts of bending: tai chi is waterbending (albeit very dynamic waterbending at times) fire is shaolin kung fu (most notably Northern shaolin style) earth is hung gar air is bagua

Spirit stuff should likely be it's own skill. I mean, there are master benders like tenzin that have a horrible connection to the spirits and non-benders like Zaheer before he got airbending with a great connection. Certain levels should allow certain abilities: entering the spirit world through meditation, calming angry spirits, ect.

Weeelll, if I get to play the Avatar I have in mind, here's what I've been toying with.
-Avatar Zhu -Ba Sing Se native, lower class, big family -Wasn't discovered until later than most Avatars, and had a full childhood, filled with hijinx, young romance, and lots of friends. -Like Aang, he is very reluctant about the whole Avatar thing, as he hates how the White Lotus separated him from his loved ones. -Like Korra, he's a bit older, and a bit more opinionated. -Obviously favors Earthbending, but struggles a bit with Airbending. This is attributed to his inability to 'let go of earthly and personal matters'. -Loathes his job as the Avatar. Like, really loathes it, for personal and philosophical reasons. Is thus hesitant to get involved in national politics. -Is very kind and open-minded, sociable, enjoys watching movers and probenders, (neither of which were common in Ba Sing Se) bit of a homebody. Genuinely a cool guy, except when Avatar business rears his head. Then he tends to get a little moody. -Is quite street-smart, but didn't really recieve an education until the White Lotus found him. Tends to sound like a more serious Bolin.
EDIT:
I didn't really think too hard about what Ba Sing Se or what the Earth Kingdom would really look like at this point. Can't really pick the world you're born into.

Your Seconds will NOT have any skills and they will not be in positions of power, but they will be a good RP outlet when your main PCs are either stuck and waiting for me, or if your main PCs are in a very serious, dramatic, heavy RP and you are in the mood to do something light and fun. Example: Main PC is locked in deadly battle and you're waiting for me to roll the rounds - your Second is a tour guide to Big National Landmark/Republic City/Thing or your Second owns a cool noodle stand or just does something fun that you want to do. Be as wacky as you want, or whatever you want to be with the Second.

Well who knows what will happen between now and the end of book 4. Won't it have aired/be airing by the time we start the game?

With Zhu, I kind of assumed the show and RP were both a bit influenced by China's conversion to populism, what with the evil Queen being assassinated by the RED Lotus. So I made Zhu a sort of working-class hero of sorts, the character archetype one always finds in Chinese cinema. I love the idea of the Earth Kingdom being in the middle of such a shift, and all the plots and drama that would entail. I can see a lot of Dai Li hijinx in the RP.
