An ancient ring fort located at the crown of a defensible round hill with an excellent view of the surrounding countryside, it can only be reached by a steep climb on stony ground. The Fist is many days north of the Wall, located at the western edge of the Haunted Forest, where the foothills of the Frostfang mountains begin. It commands a view overlooking the Milkwater river, and the top of the hill can be seen from quite a distance away. It has served as a defensive position for thousands of years, both by the Night's Watch and the Free Folk.

Varryn arrives at the Fist after a long march, the main force of his wildling army in tow, his son somewhere among them. Climbing to the top of the hill, Varryn asks for the Magnar of Thenn to meet with him at the top, along with the strongest and 'smartest' of each tribe marching with him. To a small wildling boy Varryn had forgotten the name of, he commanded scouts to be sent into the surrounding forest, and then to the west towards the Frostfangs, following the most recent lead of the dragon he'd been hunting for the better part of the last two decades.

Tamora arrived before her father. Tall, voluptuous and strong, with beautiful yet fierce features, she was a woman to command attention. At present she wore a heavy wolfskin cloak over thick woollens, her dark hair tied back in a loose tail. She carried a bronze tipped spear taller than she was, with a bow and a full quiver. Behind her came two stocky women, battle-scarred and strong, members of Tamora's own band of spearwives, the Bronze Maidens (it was said not one of them was actually a maiden). One of the women was six and a half feet tall; it was rumoured her mother had been a giantess.
Tamora strode up to her husband with absolute confidence in herself and in the fact that a dozen men would instantly be wishing they got to share her tent.
"Husband." she said in acknowledgement. "I wish you would spend less time chasing a dream and more time pushing south. You have the biggest army any of our kind have ever seen, and more tribes may yet be recruited. We might carve ourselves a fine kingdom. Winterfell would make us a fine old seat."

"Tamora." Varryn smiled when she approached, then looked south again as she spoke. "We have a great army, but I have seen the other side of the Wall, the keeps defending it. I will not throw away the lives of our people if there was not a chance, but we're so close.. with a dragon on our side, we could take the Wall with ease." Varryn turned to look at her, his face set in determination. "We will attack soon, with or without a dragon, but I want to give it a chance. The last of the following tribes will arrive soon, and we will send out for more, but in that time, I will keep looking for the creature. I promise you, though, by the time we are done, you will be at my side in front of the strongest kingdom this world will ever know."

Tamora smiled rather wolfishly. "Yes. I look forward to that day. But you have told me how the Wall stretches across the land from the Bay of Ice to the Bay of Seals. How could one dragon alone hope to make a difference to our cause?"

"They'll be focused below as soon as we attack, but the dragon can give me the ability to kill the defenders on top of the wall without us having to climb it and lose so many. We can make it past the wall with barely any men lost, and move to Winterfell and the other lands with our full force. We will leave a trail of crows and cowards in our wake. When the rest of Westeros sees what we can do, more will join us. King Maegor is not a man loved by the people."

Tamora nodded. "Many years have passed since you were in Westeros. We should send spies to the northern castles and there is a city too? White Harbor. We might learn more of this Maegor and the state of the realm. You should also speak with the free folk from the southern regions. Some of them are said to trade with the black crows. They might know much of use to us."

Varryn nodded as she spoke, looking at the scouts gathering, ready to leave soon. "That is going to be discussed in this meeting. I've already ordered men sent to the villages not marching with us, to recruit more. We'll send others to sail around the wall and get us information on what to expect."

Tamora had grown up speaking the Old Tongue of the first men but she was now largely fluent in the Common Tongue.
"Of course. When we are close to the Wall, we might send one or two of my women to seek information. Men tell women things they will not tell other men." Tamora smirked before her expression turned serious again.
"Some of the chieftains will require more than words if they are to join us. They will want more than promises. Weapons and plunder for a certainty. Hardhome and the Frozen Shore would be our best options, I think."

"I agree, and I need somebody I can trust leading each of those groups. Perhaps your father would enjoy blowing the dust off of his blade." Varryn looked off towards the wall again, then cleared his throat, trying his hand at the old tongue again. "They will send scouts soon. We need some way to stop them."

Sven comes riding up his small frame lounging away lazily along the back of his adolescent bear. The bear sniffed up at the assembled people and for a moment it seemed confused as the boy on it's back withdrew from its mind and sat up getting off the bear's back. "Mother!" He called happily and launched his petite form up at her from the ground.

"My father loves battle," Tamora agreed. "As for the scouts, you need a force of archers to stop them."
She turned as her son arrived and hugged him fiercely. "My little one. Careful, I hope you have not been getting into trouble with that beast. I don't know which of you is more likely to find trouble." She shook her head. "You should walk, like I do."

Varryn looked at his son and the accompanying bear, sighing quietly. "I agree that we need archers, and I was wondering if you would take particular interest in training them, dear. Sven, how would you feel about getting away from the camp for a few hours? I have an idea I think you might like."

"I was walking mother dear, but my legs got tired so I decided to ride Bearic up the hill." He says with a toothy grin, though it can seen that one of his teeth had fallen out since his mother had last seen him, he gets down from his mothers arms and embraces the bear around the neck, who proceeded to rest his furry head on the boys in a return hug.
At his fathers words he turned around. "Yes father? What would you have me do?" He said in his usually chipper voice."

"We do need archers, and I will train them, but not to kill the scouts. Not yet. You need skilled men and women for that. Choose among those you know to be experienced. I can volunteer a few of the Bronze Maidens<" she said firmly.

Varryn nodded, looking at the two giants accompanying Tamora. "We'll see what the meeting comes up with." Varryn looked back down to Sven, smiling. "We need to get a feel for the surrounding area, and how many Crows have been around. Would you like to lead a group of our scouts and see if there have been any around? You can use your bear to help."

Sven looks at his father horror-struck at the idea of leading anyone anywhere, and shakes his head rapidly, "Nu-uh." He says simply.

"I have a better idea, then. How good are you at controlling birds? You're clearly an expert at mice already." Varryn hadn't actually intended to have Sven lead, but he thought the idea would've made him feel important.

"Bird are fun." He exclaims, "They feel light and fluffy. Though nothing is as fluffy as Bearic here." He states draping an arm around the bear's neck.

"Then I'd like for you to see what you can find around us. You can go wherever the birds can go if you like, but we need to know if the Crows know we're here."

"I can try that." Sven chirps happily. "Lets go Bearic, we have work to do." He says pulling a small piece of smoked meat from one of his pockets hanging it in front of the bear then tossing it to him as the duo started down the hill.

Sigvauld, the Magnar of Thenn, arrived shining in bronze armor from head to toe that he wore as comfortably as a second skin. In stark contrast, was the grey glint of the great bearded battleaxe on his back, castle-forged steel taken from some dead Crow. Good steel was incredibly rare among the Free Folk as confirmed Nights Watch kills had become more and more rare with each passing year. Killing one and surviving long enough for looting was almost unheard of and this made the axe a great prize worthy of respect among the Free Folk.

Varryn nodded to Sigvauld as the rest of the assorted 'representatives' of the clans came, mostly picked by Varryn himself. "Magnar. It is quite the army we have, isn't it? Growing by the day."

"Biggest I've seen. Suppose that's something." Sigvauly replied in his usual tone, a mix of gruff and amiable. "Still wont do us much good against the bloody Wall. Five times wouldn't."

"Not in a frontal attack, trying to scale it or break through the gate, but with good planning, entire castles can be taken by a dozen men. We will conquer the Wall with twenty thousand. Messengers are going to the tribes that have not joined us, and scouts head west and south. We will stay here and make our plans, and see how the Watch reacts when they find us." Varryn spoke to all of those gathered, then looked at the ancient hill they stood on. "We will use the nearby trees to make shelters, and shields for those without. Do any of you have suggestions on anything else we should do?"
