Alysanne laughed. "A plan? No, definitely not... just idle thoughts. Father has insured that I know it is my birthright and, well, I can agree that it is. I am not sure if it is something I should approach her Grace about."

"That would not be my first course of action. You ought to speak with your uncle. See if you can come to some arrangement between yourselves. Rhaena has much on her mind, and it is usually best to exhaust one's options before asking for the crown to intervene."

"You raise a good point," Alysanne said, listening to Baelon intently. "Though I am curious as to what my uncle could possibly be persuaded with. I do no know the man of course, so I will need to see when I have spoken with him."

Baelon shrugged. "Wed his son. That would solve the matter neatly. Driftmark would remain under control of the Velaryons, but you would have influence, and your children would rule it one day."

Alysanne laughed. "That would be one option, wouldn't it? Though I think a daughter of house Arryn would be best of to marry someone with more... standing." She turned to Faelina.
"I will take some more wine, after all."

Faelina nodded and got the wine.

"The Velaryons may not have vast armies, but it's not as though they are without power. They have a considerable fleet, and are wealthy because of it. And they have always been influential at court, though less so now that your uncle has chosen not to attend. And don't forget," Baelon took a sip of wine as punctuation, "Your father certainly didn't mind your mother's 'standing', now did he?"

Alysanne laughed. "You are right there. I am not very versed yet on the goings on of the city and the surrounding lands, so you must forgive me. I will visit and see how things go, perhaps go from there."

Baelon waved his hand dismissively. "No forgiveness is needed. No person can be expected to know everything. I've just been around a bit longer, and a few things have stuck in my old mind."
