A Change to Weapon Skills: Ok, so we're going to slightly change the way Weapon Skills work. ALL MELEE WEAPON SKILLS are simply going to replaced with a new skill called Fighting. This applies to both melee and ranged weaponry. When your character chooses the Fighting skill, you will ALSO choose a Specialty. This specialty can be Swords, Daggers, Morningstars, Brawling, or whatever other type of hand-to-hand weapon you want to use, based on the list that you will find two posts up. When your character gets into a fight, provided he or she is using the weapon in which they have a specialty, they will roll normally, at whatever level they have taken the Fighting skill. If they are using a different weapon, however, they will roll at a penalty of -20. This is representative of lordlings being trained in multiple disciplines of fighting; realistically they would due trained to fight with sword, lance, and mace, and they would learn to hunt with the bow and the spear, but no character has enough skill options to take all of those, even at a low level, without seriously hampering their character's versatility. So, for example, if a character has Expert Fighting (Swords), and they lose their sword in a fight, they can still pull their dagger of their belt or even lash out with their fists, and roll at the equivalent of Apprentice level, rather than being completely without skill. Also, since nobody took jousting in this game, it means that players will be able to participate in tournaments if we have them. Now, for those of you who have multiple weapon skills: it will go as follows. You can take the Fighting Skill more than once, with different specialties, if you want to, so if you want Expert Fighting (Swords) and Noteworthy Fighting (Crossbows) you would roll at those levels when testing either of those skills, and at Apprentice for any other type of weapon. If you currently have two weapon skills and decide that you DO NOT want one of them based on this change, please PM the admins to notify us, and we will discuss options for a replacement skill at the equivalent level with you. As for Ranged Skills: The same system will apply. If you have Expert Longbows currently, it will become Expert Marksmanship (Longbows), and when you are using a ranged weapon besides a longbow, you will roll at Apprentice level. THIS WILL INCLUDE any type of weapon that fires some sort of ammunition (bows, crossbows, slings). Marksmanship DOES NOT any type of throne weapon apart from Javelins. smaller thrown weapons; throwing knives and throwing axes will be covered under Fighting (Small Blades) and Fighting (Axes) respectively. PLEASE PM ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I will happily help everyone work out any issues that might arise from this changeover, and to help you organize your new skills if you find out that a skill you have taken has been made redundant.

I would also request that players make a note in this thread once they have made the necessary changes, so that I can look over your profiles. Thanks very much guys.

I have replaced Expert Swords with Fighting (Swords), and Novice Archery with Novice Projectiles (Bows). Apart from that no changes were made.

I'll look at my skills tomorrow, since 4 of them are weapon skills, but too drunk right now.

Didn't we have this conversation already? There's no such thing as "dual wielding blades". You can have a skill in swords or in knives, but "Dual Wielding" is not a skill.

You write swords and describe your character as having two when you RP. Functionally, in terms of rolling, there is no difference if you have one sword or two

Sorry for being that asshole, everyone, but please change Projectiles to Marksmanship. I somehow thought that was a good idea, but it was pointed out to me how ridiculous that sounds. I would also like to note that Lances and Spears are NOT the same skill any more; lances are for mounted charges while spears (of which there are many different varieties) are used on foot.
