A large room near the top of Maegor's Holdfast, the room a lot more cosy now than under King Maegor, with a comfortable double sofa and floor to ceiling bookshelves crammed with all manner of books the Queen had moved from the Library and never returned. There was a constant fire and a large sturdy looking desk that held a lot of items, but everything was meticulously placed. The Solar was very tidy, in direct contrast to the Queens Bedchamber.

Lord Lyonel approached the quee's solar and slowly knocked on her door. He waited patiently, and offered a warm smile to one of the guards at her door. He recognized the man, but did not want to distract him from his duties. He just gave a small salute with his free hand.

Lyonel was allowed in immediately, to find the Queen looking over a detailed map of the new border with Dorne on an empty table in the centre of the library part of the dark room.
"Good Evening," She greeted, not looking up, tracing a finger down the line where the two countries connected.

"Your grace." Lyonel replied, giving the awkward but deep bow he had practiced over the years. He moved closer to the Map and studied it as well. "Your beauty and grace blind me more then the sun as usual me liege" He chuckled as he spoke the flowery words, and then added, "If I did not know better I would say you have just had some bitter medicine."

"Flattery always leaves me feeling queezy," she said, and looked up at her friend with a smile, "I spend all night and all day feeling constantly sick,"
She rolled the map up and stored it back in it's hard leather case, "To what do I owe the visit, Lyonel."

"I have been thinking about the world, and our small place in it." Lyonel replied as he limped along behind her. "We have not spent much time speaking of the new power to the East. This Valyria reborn, what feelings does it inspire in you?"

"A certain amount of jealousy," Rhaena admitted, "When I first took the throne, I had planned on looking out, conquering the freecities, and marrying my children to the lords of westeros to create a new Freehold myself, get rid of the monarchy, but westeros is too fragile for that now, probably not ever, my father was right..." she trailed off, "And due to that, it also fills me with a lot of uncertainty, I have heard he wishes to make slaves of us all."

"That is interesting. I wonder why he wants to punish us so." Lyonel asked aloud even though he know she would not have an answer. "It seems to me, that when there is a dragon charging right at us, and perhaps we can defeat the beast, but what we can not allow is for us to be bit in the ankle by serpents while at the same time we are trying to deal with the dragon.I think it is time we did something about Dorne."

"You know, I was just having that very conversation with someone else, just this afternoon," Rhaena said, and smiled at the aftermath of it, "what would you suggest?"

"There seems to be only two options. A negotiated peace with them entering into your dominion. Or bloody combat." Lyonel replied certainly. "I of course favor the first, but they are paths best walked together."

"A very astute observation, the only problem being, Dorne is full of people who are stubborn and entitled, and they will only want peace if it benefits them, and I have nothing I want to give them." She told them, "But at the same time, I do not want an all out war with them, when there could be a firestorm coming. If I were to offer terms, what would you suggest they be?"

"It seems to me every thing begins with a marriage alliance. Is there a Martell of age with the crown prince?" Lyonel asked trying to remember every branch of their family tree.

"You want me to marry my son, my heir, to those uppity traitor harbourers?" Rhaena asked, raising an eyebrow.

Lyonel remembered hearing that Sarella's heir was a widower, his wife and daughters having been taken by plague ten years past. He knew that Sarella's eldest daughter was married to one of the Marcher lords, though he could not be sure which, and that she had a younger daughter and younger son, though he could not remember anything about them.
He also remembered a rumor, that after Sarella had given shelter to Visenya Targaryen, the exile dragonrider had immediately begun a liaison with the widowed Prince.

"My queen what I want is for the entire world to realize their great foolishness and flock to King's Landing to fall to their knees and worship you." Lyonel replied with a small smile. "So far all the people of all the lands have been rather disappointing." Then he shrugged, "I do not want this but I would be doing you a great disservice to not consider every option."

"No Martell will ever sit on my throne," She said, shaking her head, "I need to marry my son to a family I trust, and you cannot trust a Dornishman, perhaps Traegon could be married to one of them, but not Maegor." she lamented not having a daughter.

"It would not be a Martell but a Targaryen. Being raised under your eyes will guarantee that." Lyonel smiled at her. "Though in fact it is really the traitor the Martell's shelter that we should be concerned about. For it is the dragons not the men of Dorne that cause is to purse our lips."

"There dragons have not helped them so far, and we have more, if it came to war, they would not last long, Dragons do not work in the Dornish's cowardly style of fighting." Rhaena pointed out, "I would be tempted to think you are right, were my son not an idiot."

"He had greatness inside him. He just does not believe it. One day the weakness will burn away and the true man will show." Lyonel replied. He took a deep breath. "I believe that is my point. Alone neither is a true that to your realm. But if they ally. Or if we hesitate until the threat is too strong?"

"That is why I am not hesitating, I have heard word from dorne and am taking according measures, unless I hear other news," Rhaena replied to him, but smiled, "I do hope the boy I raised is in there somewhere, the other day I had to drag hi out of bed, after he missed the whole petition court," she shook her head, if push came to shove, she had other sons,

"What word have you heard from Dorne?" Lyonel asked curiously. His light blue eyes were curiously studied her.

"Rumour has it the mountain houses, Dayne and so on, have garnered real support for a push against us." Rhaena explained.

Lyonel winced slightly. "While I speak of forging peace a Dayne brews war." He rubbed the bridge of his nose between two fingers. "Will you ride yourself or send another to prepare for war?"

"I will decide that later, perhaps I will send no one, perhaps I will send everyone." She said, "I will wait until lord dondarion returns, if he does, to decide, he knows the dornish border, after all." Spread a smiled at Lyonel, "peace is always a more favourable option, but if dorne is preparing for a proper battle, them I would see them crushed once and for all."

"While you prepare for war my Queen, perhaps I could serve you by traveling to Dorne. I would be honored to speak for you with them to see if I can turn them away from their purpose." Lyonel bowed his head to her. "And you know how I love to hear my own words."
