Background:
Alysanne was one when her mother died, and thus she never knew her. Her father was mostly in charge of her upbringing, cherishing his daughter in whom he saw his dead wife. At a very early age it became evident that Alysanne was a talent; she was often found singing to herself in the great, reverberant halls of the Eyrie and outside in the snowy godswood. A clear and sweet soprano, Alysanne was encouraged to sing more and at age five performed before several lord, ladies and knights of the Vale to great applause.
Those little performances became a frequent yearly event in the Vale and already the young should-be heir to Driftmark and would-be heir of the Vale was beloved by her people. Alysanne excelled at dancing as well, learning the common court dances as well as northern and braavosi dances. It was the other kind of braavosi dancing however that she would soon learn after her father informed her of her birthright when she reached age ten. Grace, a slim Valyrian Steel rapier would be hers when she completed her training with a instructor of waterdancing and former First Sword of Braavos.
Before her training started however, Alysanne received a gift that spoke to the dragon blood in her veins. A snow-white dragon egg, from which hatched a dragon of the same colour. Having heard many stories of her mother's bravery, her deeds and her personality, Alysanne named her dragon Daeneryon. The girl was immensely proud of the mother she would never know and so projected all the love she had for her on the dragon.
From then on Alysanne was found either with feeding Daeneryon and teaching him how to breath fire, or training with her fencing master. Her skinny frame helped her to be agile and fast, presenting a small target as well and her teacher praised her swiftness at learning. She received her formal training until she was thirteen, when her master judged that from hereon in it was all about retaining her own training schedule and not letting herself forget her lessons. This also heralded a new time in Alysanne's life.
If she was to rule a castle, or even an entire region, then Alysanne would have to learn about the ways of high nobility. As a child she had already spend a lot of time around the nobles of the Vale, but only in the safe confines of the Eyrie. Now she was sent to castles like Redfort, Runestone and Ironoaks, to learn all their respective rulers had to teach. A witty girl by nature, Alysanne grew into a clever and quick young woman, always able to see the best in people but also knowledgeable that it was often best to exploit an opponent's weakness. She learned that she could use her cheerful and friendly soul to hide any ambitions she might have and that, if not making people think her slow minded or stupid, it was at least good to catch them off guard with her good nature.
Throughout her young teens, Alysanne has truly embraced the people of the Vale and considers herself a woman of the mountains before anything else. Queen Rhaena was never very popular in the Vale, but Alysanne was wise enough to never air her opinion of the Queen loudly. She grew up knowing that Driftmark was hers by right, and has always known that there could be the chance she would rule the Vale as her father had never remarried.
And then he did, when she was fifteen, to a woman who was only three years Alysanne's senior. She quickly became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter, who to Alysanne's complete disapproval was named Daenerys. From that moment on Alysanne came to regard her father in a negative light, believing he was betraying her mother's memory. She treated her mother in law as kindly as she did anyone else, but deep inside she knew that the woman was all that stood in the way of her birthright. Upon the recent announcement of her pregnancy, Alysanne's secret contempt has only grown deeper.
Now, as a young woman, Alysanne spends her time riding Daeneryon through the Vale of Arryn, visiting the castles of the Vale and practicing her waterdance daily. She knows that soon the time will come when she will have to visit King's Landing and meet the woman who had been so close to her mother, yet seemed to have betrayed her as well, in her eyes at least.
Personality:
Alysanne is cheerful, open, funny and kind and her love for her people is obvious. She is clever without being arrogant and can talk easily to nobles and smallfolk alike.
Appearance:
Alysanne has a natural and ethereal beauty that fits very well in the halls of the Eyrie. Soft blonde hair adorns her head and her eyes are a startling purple, belying her Vayrian heritage, her lips having a natural pout to them. Skinny at a young age, she has developed some shape through maturity as well as her waterdancing, and is comfortable both in dresses as well as tunic and breeches.
