Hey guys
As you know, all games must have rules. Ours are in many respects down to common sense but I figured it was time to incorporate a rules post to get everything together. So please bear the following in mind.
General
-We aren't all going to get along with everyone else 100% of the time. With that in mind, be civil to each other and refrain from arguments in the public forums. We are instigating a new policy to deal with such problems. I expect everyone to behave with common courtesy towards each other, and the admins.
-If you have a problem with another player or the way in which RP is handled, take it to the admins by PM and include all of us. We will discuss any such matters but the resulting admin decision is final.
-Keep OOC comments in role-play threads to ZERO. OOC comments should be kept for the OOC board. If you want to respond OOCly to something that was posted in a Roleplay board, quote the relevant passage and make your comment in the OOC board or in a PM if it is private.
-Event and rumour requests must be sent to all 3 admins for approval
Roleplaying
-We don't expect 100% realism in a game set in a fictional world but we do expect characters and RP to suit the world created by George RR Martin and adapted by ourselves for the purpose of this game.
-Private board usage will be minimalised and regulated more effectively than in Dragons v1. Please do not ask for private boards; they will be given out as needed, not "as wanted".
-All sexual content posted in the public forums or private board should be of the "fade to black" variety. Anyone that wishes to engage in more "adult" RP will have to do so over PM with the admins CC'd so we are aware of any plot developments and can do pregnancy rolls. This includes all 3 admins.
-The in game month and year should be added to IC threads so we can keep track of time more effectively. The person starting the thread should indicate the month and year in the first post of the RP conversation, regardless of whether this is an old thread or a new one. We can then ensure that continuity is maintained, and that the timeline is updated when necessary.
-Dragon travel allows many players to move more swiftly than in previous games. If you want to travel a long distance by dragonback without RPing your stopping points, clarify your position with an admin.
-We are happy for players to RP in several threads at once but please make sure there are no continuity issues as a result. We will be keeping a close eye on player movements, particularly considering the use of dragon flight. Everyone is expected to use common sense like not posting in Winterfell and Oldtown at the same time unless finishing off delayed RP after moving on. In cases where the continuity may be affected, such as political machinations, players should ensure that they do not enter into new RP while old threads are still ongoing. Additionally, if your character is involved in a fight, they may not engage in future RP until the fight has concluded.
-In line with the above, backdated RP will not be allowed. If you move ahead of other players, you must stay ahead until everyone else catches up with you. The only exception will be finishing existing RP with a less active player or doing something unremarkable like attending someone else's party for all players in your vicinity.
-Do not ask for retcons. They may be considered in extreme cases and will be done at admin discretion.
-Don't ask the admins to roll training fights. We dislike rolling fights unless there are stakes involved. If you want to RP a training fight with someone, that's fine, but they won't be rolled.
Rolls and Skills
-Do not ask for roll requests 24/7. We use rolls to enhance RP, not to replace it. So, for example, you cannot do a Charm roll in every post in a single conversation.
-Do not beg us for increases in a particular skill; you are more likely to receive a reduction than a bonus if you keep asking after we've asked you to stop.
A note on PMs
Important PMs to the admins must be sent to The Gambler, the Black Dread and myself, without exception.
If you're not sure whether to send a PM to all of us, it's probably better to do so, as that will minimise the chance of problems down the line.
When it comes to adding a new person to the conversation, the person who started the conversation has to do it (confirmed by Proboards Support).
I don't expect you to send minor PMs such as tag reminders or OOC matters but it does include:
-Character and plot queries
-Issues with in game decisions, other players etc
-PM based RP regardless of who is involved
-Events and rumours
-Skill concerns
Repeated failures to follow the rules WILL result in consequences
