Before they went their separate ways mine was Rhaena/Maekar (damned if I will use the silly names).

No prizes for guessing my favourite, hehe. So good of you to throw your support behind team Traena.

Team Trelsey was clearly her favorite. They made such a cute husband and wife. I'm sure he fell to his death holding her hand.

My favourite human/dragon bond was definitely Vhaenara.

Why he gave a shit about what? Her getting pregnant? Maegor wanted more dragonriders and Trajan wanted what his father wanted. Trajan was never one to make an idle threat, as the inquisitor image was important to upkeep, so he followed through. Had he lived, he likely would have made them into a necklace.

Hmm, that was not what I had thought. Interesting. Though I'm not sure why 'following through' was important once she was dead anyway, or how he could tell she wasn't knocked up just by looking at a charred corpse in full armour, but neither are terribly important. I honestly didn't think there was much actual logic behind his behaviour, given how erratic it could be .

I'm curious what you had thought. He followed through because it was in his nature. Call it professional pride. An inquisitor that makes hollow threats is hardly going to intimidate many people. He loved his job, but he also took pride in "doing it right" by his own standards. He was end-driven, so in his mind "not pregnant" and "not providing him a dragonriding child" were the same thing, so Elsey dying was the same result and warranted the same punishment. I don't think Trajan was erratic at all. He was 100% logic, just absolutely devoid of any moral compass. Ultimate consequentialism, with the worst means skewed to justify the most meager ends. If he wanted a candy bar and had to kill 10 people to get it, that would be a good deal in his head. Killing people is free and candy is delicious. Your inability to understand him is why you did so badly with him

I thought it was just about control for him. His being an evil bastard was a major factor in my not doing well with him . Don't go pinning it all on me .

Every interaction you had with him, you made it worse instead of making it better. He was just doing his job, you didn't have to antagonize him and then get surprised when he reacted lol

Not that he could really be antagonized. His two emotions were boredom and sadistic glee.

Just like IRL humans, your characters can act in different ways with different people...
