Hello, folks. I have two RPs I've designed and built. One focuses on an expedition headed out from Rome to Jerusalem in 1135 or so. The second RP is set in China just after the death of Qin Shihuang. Both will use a similar stat system I've been itching to try. The first is a mostly realistic story-based campaign, the second s much more open world and surreal. I have yet to decide on one, so I thought I'd ask you. I have other players lined up, who are also being polled as well. pilgrimagelost.proboards.com/

I'm designing a game based on the crusades also, so I'd be fascinated to play your Crusader game, Orys. Mine won't be ready for quite a while.

I wish I actually knew something about China now. But the only thing I've really read that featured Imperial China was the 2nd Temeraire novel, and that has dragons so I can't count it as a source

I could go either way at this point. Give us a bit more info to help make up my mind! At this point I'm leaning towards Qin era however.

I could go either way at this point. Give us a bit more info to help make up my mind! At this point I'm leaning towards Qin era however. Pilgrimage Lost is much more character focused and rooted in the actual historial period. You will enouncter Vikings, local politics, royal conspiracies, and the might of the Saracen army. I'd say those were spoilers, but it happened a thousand years ago. I intend it to be a somewhat demanding experience, as you are very much mortals in a very dangerous time. Again, I stress this is a CHARACTER-based RP, as you will be stuck with eachother a longtime, so be sure to flesh out your characters. The quality of writing and dedication will be pretty stringent. There IS quite a bit of conquest of gameplay involved, and you may all die in the first act. Broken Empire is like most of these games, an open-world sandbox where you make a character you like and run with it. This one of course is much more conquest oriented, but it will also have certain fantasy elements written in traditional to Chinese lore, primarily 'chi' and all the crazy shit you always see Jet Li doing on the screen. The tactics and stratagems in these games will have to be rather intricate. Chinese battle tactics are VERY intricate compared to Western tactics, primarily because they wrote everything down. Politics is equally unforgiving. However, they're both very free-spirited. My main priority in every RP I make is creating as fun and exciting an environment as I can. I never let 'realism' trump 'interesting', though you'll quickly learn both may trump your survival skills.

Both sound like cool ideas, but I'm leaning a little more toward the Pilgrimage one.

I'd be interested in the Pilgrimage one, if there's room.
