Baelon, finding his target by the light of the flames, urged Seaskimmer on to bite at the would-be king.
"A fucking warning would have been appreciated, Daenerys!" He shouted back at her.

Dany sheated her sword mid-run and heard Baelon shout something, but his exact words did not carry over the field well enough for them to make sense. She continued to run to Mith with the intent to join Baelon in the air.

Maekar manages to roll away a little but not before Seaskimmer manages to bit his foot.
(Maekar takes a small wound)

Seaskimmer hovered over Maekar, Baelon glaring down at him.
"This is for Rhaella, nephew." He yelled, as his dragon sprayed fire down.

This time Seaskimmer was so close to Maekar there was almost no chance he would miss. Maekar felt the hot flames engulf him, searing his skin. The pain intensified until he screamed and then there was nothing.

Daenerys had reached Mith and climbed to his saddle by the time she heard Maekar's screams echoing across the field. She took to air and flew towards them, keeping an eye open for Cyrax even though he was very difficult to spot in the dark. They flew low and landed next to Seaskimmer, with Dany looking down at Maekar's corpse for a long moment.

Baelon watched the flames melt the usurper's flesh. When he was content that it was done, he urged Seaskimmer to reach down and grab the body with her talons, before turning to fly the fuck out of there. Best not to delay with Cyrax nearby.

Cyrax didn't move, not yet. Daenerys and Baelon would have to take their chances that he didn't pursue.

Having no objections to that, Dany spurred Mithrax around and had him fly away, in the opposite direction of Cyrax.

Baelon followed Dany, spurring Seaskimmer on as fast as she would fly.

After a good half an hour of flight, Daenerys decided Cyrax was no longer a threat and motioned to a small field down and descended to it, waiting on Baelon to do the same.

Baelon landed near her, heart still pounding. He climbed off as quickly as he could.
"What in the seven fucking hells was that!?" He shouted, storming toward her. "That is not something you lead a man into blind!"

Daenerys slipped down her saddle as well and took a few unsteady steps towards Baelon, her tinged cheeks indicating that her heart had not stopped racing quite yet either. She opened her mouth to say she was sorry, but closed it again after realizing it was a lie, and she had lied enough for a lifetime during the past few days. "You could have flown away," she said a moment or two later.

Baelon just stared at her for a moment, before starting to laugh like a fool. "But I didn't," He managed to gasp out, "I killed a fucking usurper and ended a fucking war."
Still laughing, he walked up to Dany and embraced her. "I do believe we're heroes, now."

Slightly thrown off by Baelon's reaction, Dany barely managed to return the hug, her face remaining serious as he pulled back. "I put a sword through his chest," she said slowly, still finding it hard to believe, and looked to him. "I guess this rids our trip of its actual goal. We should fly back."

Baelon let her go, still smiling. "The singers won't bother mentioning if we were a little bit late getting home."
"We just killed a king. I need a moment to breathe." He pulled a leather flask from his belt. "And a drink." After taking a pull, he offered it to her. "The best firewine you'll ever taste."

After a moment of inner monologue, Dany relented and smiled. "What an unlikely pair of heroes we are," she said, and walked back to Mith to dispose of her armor and throw it in the side saddle. Returning in her white silk blouse and riding leathers, she gladly accepted the flask and took a healthy swig, grimacing a second later. It made her eyes water slightly and she could barely hold back a cough, but she took another sip before handing it back to Baelon and sitting down on the cold grass.

Baelon was the picture of chivalry, turning his back as she removed her armor. He sat down beside her, and leaned back to stare up at the stars.
"So whose idea was this? Rhaena's? Too underhanded for Aegon."

Baelon laughed again at that. "Told you you were fucking clever. Or something to that effect."
He took another sip from the flask, wincing a bit as he swallowed.
"Daenerys the Cunning and Baelon the Unwitting, who won the War That Never Started."

Although she was not exactly proud of what they had just done, she grinned at his silly jape, finding that Baelon could always achieve that regardless of the situation they were in. "Enough of that now," she said before leaning down and placing a hot kiss on his lips while one of her hands slid down to his belt buckle. It had been a long time coming anyway.

Having gotten used to her rejections, Baelon was rather surprised with Dany's forwardness. But he certainly wasn't complaining.

When they were done, Dany rolled off of Baelon and fixed her attire, managing to regain her breath in the process. She lied there on her back looking at the starry night sky for a while before turning to her cousin. "I think a better person than me would have lost their mind by now," she admitted.

Daenerys smiled softly and rested her head on his shoulder, eyeing the stars for another long moment before closing her eyes. "I think we should stay here for a while," she said, remembering how much she used to like sleeping under the open sky when she was younger. What was happening at Dragonstone was out of her hands and she let it go.
