"Yes, I think so too. Most women are just afraid I will steal away their husbands. I liked it at first but it's boring after a while. But you must be bored stuck in here?"

"We'll I'm certainly not going to judge," Vira said. "I gave horns to both Rhaella Targaryen and Visenya Targaryen."
"It can get dull up in here," she admitted. "I should for you to visit more."

"I can do that. Can I bring you clothes or wine? Or I could read to you. I found a most amusing book once. I think you'd like it too, but Aunt Laena was most angry with me when she found it."

"That would be wonderful. You're very kind," Vira said.

Adara giggled. "Am I? Nobody ever calls me kind, Vira. We are not like the other women, are we? They all think they are better than us, but they're not."

"How do you mean?" Vira asked politely. "We are hardly anything alike. I am a peasant, and you have always been nobility."

"The other ladies don't like us, and laugh behind our backs. And we do what we want and damn the consequences. Most of them don't, you know. Or else they are too afraid to admit what they really want. Or they are just dull." She shrugged, having decided long ago that any woman who preferred other activities to bedsport, shopping and drinking wasn't worth her time. "But you are neither dull nor afraid, I know. You are much more interesting than my highborn cousins."

Vira's eyes hardened. "Just because we are both adept at seducing men does not mean that you and I have anything else in common besides that, Adara. A woman can take her pleasure where she finds it without making her bedroom adventures the sole object of her existence, like you do. I don't "do as I like and damn the consequences", or else I'd have truly killed the king with my own hands and admitted it to his wife's face. Many women dislike me, and with good reason, but I can assure you it's not because they think I'm a walking vagina. I'm afraid people might think that of you, however, and that is where we differ. If you want to find a like-minded companion who thinks of nothing but pillow play and clothes then you had better ask Mistress Bella to find you a friendly whore for a companion. If you want to better yourself then I am more than happy to spend time with you, and maybe prepare you for the husband King Maekar will find for you, but pray don't mistake me again to be the kind of woman who lives only for fun and bedroom pleasures."

Adara stamped her foot as her face contorted in distress. "And I thought we were friends! I told you, I don't want a husband. I don't need one. But I thought you were my friend. I liked having a friend who wasn't a man. I don't even know what you mean...better myself? I am blood of the dragon. What else could I be?" She was genuinely confused and near tears.

"If you are blood of the dragon, then act like it instead of like a scullery maid with nothing to offer but what's between her legs," Vira snapped. "Seven hells, I come from the class of scullery maids and I know better. But in any case it won't matter. You have no choice, my dear. The King will decide who your husband shall be, and you'll marry as you're told to. As will I." Here there was a hint of bitterness in Vira's voice. "There, there, I did not mean to make you cry. Gods, woman, you give credence to all the men who say that womenfolk are little more than children with teats."

Adara looked up at Vira in confusion. "but...I told you, I was married to a husband who had no use for me, and I never had a dragon either. And I don't like heights, What else could I possibly do except amuse myself? It blocks out the pain, you know. The drink and the sex. Without that, I'm nothing."

"Oh sweet seven hells," Vira groaned. "You are truly the most painfully pathetic creature I have ever had the misfortune to clap my eyes on and the only reason I am not slapping you now is because it might make you faint. Your pain? What pain have you possibly experienced besides the soreness between your legs in the morning? I'm an orphan who grew up in poverty, whose parents were raped and murdered, my friends were raped and murdered, my entire village put to the sword, and now I'm on trial for regicide, and you come here to bleat at me about your whore's problems? I'm afraid I cannot continue to entertain your company, Adara, but my guards will be very happy to show you a good time, and I'll be sure to tell the King to find you a husband with a big cock. But one more protest out of you about your future nuptials and I'll tell him to marry you to a dwarf."

Adara stamped her foot again. "And to think I came to you in friendship. You really are a bitch, you know that? I said I'd help but all you want is to say horrid things about me. I wish I'd left you where I found you. And you are exactly why I don't make friends outside of bed. The people I like always leave me or say hateful things." She burst into tears and fled.

"The only reason I received you and politely fumed through your inane nonsense is because I remember you brought me to court," Vira retorted, before Adara fled the room in tears. "But if you think I'm the problem here, when you admit that you're incapable of making female friends, I'd take a closer look at yourself."
She sighed as the woman fled the room, and went to lie down on her bed.
