No, it's fine. The bastard I referenced is one of my own NPCs. It's up to you really, just wanted to offer the info we had.

Alright, thank you. The Gaemon-Penrose parentage will work wonderfully. I suppose I'll create an account and begin to right up my character sheet.

Hello. I had a question regarding a position in the character availability thread, one for the knight inquisitor. I was wondering if you needed to be a targaryan to serve in that role, and what the position entails exactly.

Well Valarr and Maekar are both Inquisitors, and they're bastards. Or did you mean non-Targ-bastards too?

It's pretty much like the Gestapo; we derive our authority directly from the King, so when we do something it is basically considered that the King did it. We're not legally accountable for anything we do, unless the King decides otherwise, so we pretty much have carte blanche. You don't have to be a proper Targaryen (there aren't any left anyway) but you can be the bastard of any Targaryen if you want, or you can check out the Geneaology thread which lists a few of the family members that are still open. Any PC can be a dragonrider, and all the open slots still have Targaryen blood, but they're just not named Targaryen.
Any person of any family can be an Inquisitor, but there is a requirement that Inquisitors be unmarried and hold no lands; something about making sure 100% of our loyalty is to the King. We're like the opposite of the Kingsguard.

Baelon, Trajan is my fellow Inquisitor, not Valarr.

Eh, the other one with two syllables and two a's in his name. Close enough.

Is there a thread that has information on house darklyn?

There is not. The lord of their house is Willem Darklyn, who is also the Master of Whisperers.

Interesting. Could I roleplay as his son?
Additionally, what do you think of the name Tyberus?

The name is fine. The thing is we wanted all characters to be descended from House Targaryen so we' need to make an exception in this instance. Are you ok with possibly not having a dragon?

Not having a dragon would be fine with me. I could also change my guy to be a targaryan bastard, possibly from a member of house darklyn, if it would make things more agreeable.
I'm coming in late, so I should be the one accommodating the game, not the other way around.

Targaryen bastards are completely open, and if you wanted to be either Lord Darklyn's bastard son by a Targaryen woman, I'm sure we could make that work, or you could be a Targaryen's son by some Darklyn woman. In either case you could be a dragon rider, as long as you have Targaryen blood. If you want to be a full blooded Darklyn you wouldn't be able to get a dragon and you'd have to work your background out with the admins.
Lord Darklyn is 48, but none of his other family has been mentioned.

Yeah, Maekar's right. Any of those options would be suitable.
If you have a specific concept, why not PM it to myself and Maegor/Zack and we'll see what we can do. Zack's playing Darklyn as one of his major NPC so he'll need to be happy with your concept.

How important would a dragon be for us to have though? Assuming there is still a spot available.

Well Technically (I'm sure from his perspective, at least) all dragons belong to the King. Like, are you really tied to being part of the Darklyn family, or do you just want to be part Darklyn. Because to have a dragon kinda makes you part of the Targaryen family, more than any other, if only because they officially adopt most dragon riders to give the image of unified control over all the dragons.
It might help if you could describe what you're envisioning for the character. Like, this game is centered around the Targaryen family, but the admins are pretty accommodating so it seems like they'll let you play a Darklyn if you REALLY want to, but you'll be somewhat excluded from parts of the game and your character will be significantly lower in social status than the rest of the players, who are mostly royals or at least royal bastards.

We're not going to force a person to take a dragon if they don't want one. I'm more concerned about making sure someone who takes on a non Targaryen bloodline role is aware that they won't get a dragon so they have to be sure before they are approved.
As I said, why not draw up a proposal in a character sheet?

I think I'll do that, brainstorm a bit and come up with something coherent. Right now I just have a bunch of loose character traits I still need to pull into a cohesive person.
Thanks for all your help and being so patient with me though. I'll pm you guys when I come up with something.
