He was named to the Kingsguard at fifteen, by King Aegon himself, at the time the youngest knight ever to receive that honor. It is said that the aged Lord Orys Baratheon lobbied hard on his son's behalf, but none could deny that Ser Jayson deserved his cloak. He was the most graceful swordsman many had ever seen, despite being a foot taller than nearly everyone around him, and he sported a temper that could be kindled in an instant, leading some to call him 'the Whitestorm' for the force of his fury. He was widely said to be a peerless fighter and on the battlefield men feared to face him even five against one, so fearsome was his reputation. He was so dangerous with a sword his hand, that when an assassination plot was hatched by several servants in the Red Keep in 59 AL, they judged Ser Jayson to be an even greater threat than King Maegor and moved against him first, which inadvertently revealed their plans. Several servants gained positions in the White Sword Tower, and the greatest knight in a generation was felled by a mere sleeping draught and three knives in the dark. As the conspirators moved from the White Sword Tower to the King's Chambers, however, a cry went up; the body had been discovered, and they were eventually caught and hanged by King Maegor for their deeds. Replaced by Ser Jon Gaunt in 59 AL'The Strongbear'Ser Daven Mormont was gives his White Cloak by King Aegon Targaryen himself, in the year 33 AL for his acts of extreme valor on the battlefield during an invasion in which a so-called King-Beyond-the-Wall invaded Westeros, overwhelming the Night's Watch and sweeping almost all the way to Winterfell before his progress was checked. Lord Stark appealed to the King for assistance, and King Aegon sent one of his sons with a small host of knights to aid in driving the invaders back beyond the Wall. The conflict ultimately was resolved with much bloodshed on the side of the wildlings, for they were equipped to raid and pillage the sparsely populated North, but they were not equipped to stand against armored horse and dragon fire. In the course of one battle, a Knight of the Kingsguard who served in the Prince's detail was struck down by one of the wildlings, and King Aegon commanded that he be replaced by the most worthy knight on the battlefield that day. Ser Daven Mormont, who was known among northmen as 'the Strongbear' for his enormous size and shaggy black hair and beard, was one of the fiercest warriors in the North at the time, the younger brother to Lord Jerran Mormont of Bear Island. It was he who struck down Ragnar the Yellow, who had named himself King-Beyond-the-Wall and led the invasion, as well as Hardin Hollow-Fist, who claimed the same title after Ragnar fell. Both of whom were wildlings of wide repute for ferocity and prowess in battle, and when it was learned that the Strongbear had killed them both, it was clear to whom the White Cloak would be given. He accept it gladly, though it barely fit over his massive shoulders, and served ably on the Kingsguard for more than forty years, serving four Kings (five, if the failed attempt of Prince Aenar is counted) ably before dying peacefully in the Red Keep at the age of 66. Over his tenure on the Kingsguard, he fought at nearly every holdfast and town in the Reach at one point or another, and it was well known that he had shed blood in defense of King Maegor I in each of the Seven Kingdoms. He was named Lord Commander of the Kingsguard in 49 AL after the death of the previous Lord Commander, Ser Jonathan Costayne, and he served in that post until his death in 77 AL. Replaced by Ser Brandon Snow in 77 AL'The Bastard of Whitewyne'Ser William Flowers was born on the Arbor in 21 AL, the natural son of Lord Edmund Redwyne. He won his White Cloak at eighteen in a massive tournament in King's Landing, held by King Aenys I in 39 AL to celebrate the marriage of his son, Prince Jaehaerys to the lady Vanna Baratheon. Sometimes called 'the Bastard of of Whitewyne' or just 'Whitewyne', Ser William was famed as the greatest jouster in Westeros, winning multiple tournaments in each of the Seven Kingdoms. When he was given his White Cloak in 40 AL, he was made sworn shield of the Hand, Prince Maegor Targaryen, and two years later, when Maegor ascended to the throne, Ser William was made the sworn shield of the King's grandson and namesake, who would grow up to be King Maegor II, as well as his sister Rhaella, who would become his wife and queen. Ser William guarded the Princess more often than not, and was with her on every battlefield on which she fought, fighting below her banner as she fought on dragonback. When Princess Rhaella marched with her father's army, under the banner of the Prince of Dragonstone, William marched with them and he found many of his own kin on the other side of the battlefield. The current Lord Redwyne was Ser William's half-brother, the heir of Lord Edmund, who had died in the in the same year as the Conqueror. Some name him kinslayer, for on the field he slew two Redwynes who fought with the Warrior's Sons, however they were only two among a score of notable men he killed that day, before Prince Maeron's dragon Quicksilver came tumbling out of the sky. It is said that the Princess went somewhat mad when her father fell, and perhaps Ser William would have agreed, for she charged headlong into the foe on foot, her dragon bathing them in its purple flames but still not being enough to keep her from being surrounded. Ser William Flowers, mounted on the biggest white stallion many men had ever seen, smashed a bloody swathe through the Poor Fellows toward the Princess with a few knights who had rallied to his banner. The White Knight was bogged down by the press of men, however, and felled from his horse by a massive blow that sent him sprawling on the ground. When he rose he found himself face-to-face with Ser Hector the Dragonbane; the White Knight dueled the massive commander of the Faith Militant for nearly a quarter of an hour before was struck down by a massive blow. It is said, that as the man died he saw the dragon Ithilgore take flight, with the Princess cradled in her bastard brother's arms, and he smiled at the instant Ser Hector struck his head from his body. Replaced by Ser Olyvar Webber in 72 AL'Hard Hal Hardyng'Ser Hallis Hardyng was born in the Vale, two years after the death of King Aegon I. He was only a boy when his father and two of his uncles were hanged for assisting Ser Edward Arryn and the Knight of Ninestars in murdering Lord Ronnel of the Eyrie, leaving his house attained and stripped of much of their wealth and prestige. 'Hard Hal' as he as known among his peers, wielded a poleaxe better than anyone in the Vale had seen in a generation, and when war broke out in earnest against the Faith Militant, he immediately joined the loyalist armies, fighting prominently at the front everywhere he could to show his loyalty to the crown. He gained great notoriety in 55 AL for killing Ser Ellys Corbray, who was called 'the Cobra' for his speed and who had imprisoned his brother, the rightful Lord Corbray, and stolen Lady Forlorn. The Cobra was no follower of the Seven; rather he was a follower of gold, and had been paid a vast sum by agents of the Faith to destabilize the Vale. He had personally killed some of the greatest fighters in the realm, and there was no-one more surprised than he when Ser Hallis hewed off his sword arm at the elbow, and then struck his head from his shoulders. What was even more amazing, however, was how the young knight delivered the Valyrian blade back to Lord Corbray after scattering the Cobra's sellswords and liberating Heart's Home. The following year, Ser Hallis also killed Ser Wyden Whitesword, a famed champion of the Warrior's Sons who had famously defeated three Knights of the Kingsguard in a tournament melee before he had found his faith and joined the Faith Militant, and as a reward for his skills King Maegor I named him Ser Hallis Hardyng of the Kingsguard. He served for over twenty years, his poleaxe feared on battlefields all across Westeros, until he was struck down in the Western Campaign where he had been assigned to the Prince of Dragonstone's detail. In the final battle, on the streets of Lannisport in 78 AL, he had interposed himself between Prince Aegon and the traitor Ser Harmen Kayce, but as he attempted to moved to strike the traitor down three crossbow bolts sprouted from his back, punching through the steel plate from close range. Ser Harmen slashed Hard Hal's throat as he moved past the dying white knight, and eventually fell at Prince Aegon's hands, at cost of a grave injury to the prince himself. Replaced by Ser Derryk Moore in 78 AL'The White Hedge'Ser Kyle of the Moors gained a White Cloak almost by chance. He was a mere hedge knight, who answered the call to arms in 63 AL when Prince Gaemon marched on Bitterbidge which had been seized by forces of the Faith Militant. In that bloody battle, the Prince himself was slain along with his dragon by the Faith's Champion, Ser Hector Dragonbane, which threw the entire royal army into chaos in an instant. It was one of the worst defeats suffered by the Targaryen monarchy during Maegor I's reign; two Knights of the Kingsguard perished along with Ser Gaemon, as well as eleven lords, seven heirs, and over half a hundred landed knights. The royalist forces began to rout as soon as Prince Gaemon's banner tumbled from the sky, and somehow a grizzled old hedge knight from the moorlands west of Barrowton found himself barking orders at fleeing men and boys whose birth alone ought to prevent him from making eye contact with them. Regardless of station, somehow Ser Kyle managed to gather a rear-guard to protect the backs of the fleeing men, and instead of being completely destroyed, several thousand survivors were able to limp back to King's Landing, with Ser Kyle of the Moors as their de facto leader. It is said that King Maegor threatened unspeakable tortures on the hedge knight, when he presented the news of Prince Gaemon's death, but the grizzled old veteran stood with a straight-back before the King's fury and Maegor could do nothing but recognize that none of the men would have returned without this bearer of bad news. When he offered Ser Kyle land and title as a reward for his actions, the hedge knight had only one request for the King; a White Cloak to wrap about his shoulders. King Maegor granted the request, and Ser Kyle served on the Kingsguard with valor for the rest of his days. He died much as he lived; by the sword. Some said the man was a token of bad luck, for he was also present on the field at Oldtown on the day Prince Maeron was killed in 72 AL. When the great dragon Quicksilver was felled from the sky, it is said that Ser Kyle led a hopeless charge into the lines of the Faith Militant. Witnesses swear he struck down a hundred men by himself, before he was killed, and many said that he could not bear to inform King Maegor that another of his sons had fallen. Replaced by Ser Moryn Stokeworth in 72 AL'The Lead Sprinkler'Ser Fenric Vynwere was one of the most controversial knights ever to wear the White Cloak. It is said that he originally came from the Vale, the lesser son of a knightly house in service to one or another of Lord Arryn's vassals, but he was not known for that. It is claimed by some that King Maegor I once called him 'the Greatest Knight in the Realm' but not only is that story disputed, even if it is true the meaning of "greatest" is not necessarily what one might think. Fenric Vynwere rose to fame in the early 60s, distinguishing himself in battle in the Riverlands, while serving Lord Blackwood. In 61 AL a popular leader arose among the smallfolk in around Raventree and Stone Hedge, led by a man called Horys Younger who claimed to be the nephew of Ser Horys Hill, the great leader of the Poor Fellows whose army had been destroyed at the Green Fork decades before. Instead of gathering troops, Horys Younger waged a fantastically successful guerrilla campaign against the Lords of the Riverlands, who were completely stymied by his tactics. He sacked Castle Darry, after luring Ser Desmond Darry and his River Riders away with a falsified call for assistance, supposedly from a neighboring holdfast, and put Stone Hedge to the torch. Everywhere Horys Younger went, he left proclamations denouncing King Maegor in language that, when he heard of it, the King was reported to have been wordless with rage. A massive bounty was placed on the man's head, but no leal servant of the crown could find him, sheltered as he was by the people. Eventually, Ser Fenric Vynwere took fifty of Lord Blackwood's men and set off into the Riverlands. He moved from town to town, rounding up the villagers and pouring molten lead down their throats, beginning always with the children, to get make their parents speak about the Faith Militant's whereabouts. These tactics, brutal as they were, were eventually able to flush out the zealot and his men, who fell neatly into the trap Vynwere had set for them. Horys Younger was delivered alive to King Maegor I in 69 AL, and it is said that the King himself poured molten lead down the man's throat, his eyes burning with glee as he did so. Afterwards, Ser Fenric was given a White Cloak among much protest from all the highborn nobles at court. He served ably for eleven years, although there were dark whispers about what he did on his time off for the entire time. Ser Fenric was killed two days after the new year in 80 AL, in yet another assassination attempt on King Maegor II. VACANT'The Young Dragon's Folly'Ser Daegar Targaryen was given a white cloak at fourteen, out of sheer nepotism. Grandson of King Maegor I, son of the slain Prince Gaemon, it is true that Daegar was a prodigious fighter, and bonded to the dragon Dohaeragon, but it was widely whispered that his mother, Lyanne Karstark, begged a boon of the aged King, and when a White Cloak became available in 76 AL, he gave it to the boy who some began to call 'The Young Dragon'. Ser Daegar's tenure was short-lived, however, for the following year King Maegor died and his granson, Maegor II claimed the throne afterwards. Maegor II's claim was challenged by his cousin Aenar, son of the disinherited Prince Jaehaerys, and grandson of old King Aenys I. When they agreed to settle the matter of succession in the old way, by duel upon dragonback, no man at court would come forward to serve as Aenar's second and so Ser Daegar the White, the Young Dragon, offered to do so. Maegor II won the duel, killing Aenar brutally and the second after the would-be King was dead, Ser Daegar's throat was slit by a Knight Inquisitor, for the new King had no need of White Swords who supported rebels. Replaced by Ser Symon Buckler in 77 ALThe White Sword and the Black DragonZack, you fill this in, since Ser Symon is your favorite person ever. VACANT

Ser Jon Gaunt (42)
Ser Jon Gaunt was born in the Crownlands, the younger son of a minor house. Of an age with his king, Ser Jon grew up surrounded by war. He spent his teenage years as a squire, fighting the Faith Militant in Saltpans and the surrounding area. He was knighted aged 18 after a battle at Duskendale and spent the next years fighting the enemies of the crown until his prowess and courage earned him the notice of House Targaryen and he was chosen for the Kingsguard. The longest serving knight of the Kingsguard, Ser Jon has worn the white cloak for half his lifetime. He believes he, not Brandon, should be Lord Commander. This assessment is based largely on the fact of his long service to the crown. He has fought in countless battles, particularly in Lannisport and was present during the burning of Harlaw's fleet. His mistress of several years is Falyse, a buxom tanner's widow a couple of years older than Ser Jon. Her existence is well known to all the White Swords but they turn a blind eye so long as Ser Jon is discreet. The union has produced no children. Ser Jon is the proudest of all the Kingsguard knights. He considers Brandon a relative newcomer to the Kingsguard and thinks the fact that he has been in the job the longest and known previous commanders, means that he knows best regarding Kingsguard matters. He can be somewhat sharp-tongued.
Ser Derryk Moore (18)
Ser Derryk Moore is the youngest of all the Kingsguard knights. He has a reputation for being very enthusiastic about his duties but also a bit dim. He tends to speak before he thinks and is often the target of Ser Jon's tongue. His nickname is "Stupid boy." Ser Derryk was knighted at 16, only about a month before he was named to the Kingsguard. He was chosen based on his acts of valour in Lannisport, his first battle. Though somewhat bemused at being chosen, the young knight accepted eagerly because he had dreams of heroism. He is easily contented and asks for very little in life except good food, a sharp sword and a king to guard. He is very good natured.
Ser Olyvar Webber (29)
Ser Olyvar grew up in a small keep near Goldengrove, the younger son of a minor landed knight. Raised on stories of the chivalry of the Reach, and the glories of the Gardener Kings, Olyvar knew he wanted to be a knight. As a boy he served as a squire at Coldmoat, the seat of House Osgrey, whose lords had been Marshals of the Northmarch under House Gardener. Fortunately for Olyvar, his desire for knighthood was matched by a skill at arms. He is known to be especially talented with sword and mace. As a young man, Olyvar fought often in the wars against the Faith Militant. He was a squire at the Battle of Bitterbridge, and killed his first man defending one of his fellow squires, who later died of his wounds. Olyvar was knighted four years later, aged sixteen. Thereafter he fought in the loyalist armies of the Reach until the Battle of Oldtown. Distinguishing himself by defending the corpse of Prince Maeron and his dragon in order to prevent the enemy from claiming them, Ser Olyvar was named to the Kingsguard a few days after the battle. It is said of Ser Olyvar that he has no life outside his duty, no interest even in his own blood kin. His only friends, if you can call them that, are his sworn brothers. Even off duty he prefers to spend his time in the training yard or in his room. His only interest, aside from his duty, is in the old heroes of the Reach. He is the most dutiful of all the knights since his dream was always to serve in the Kingsguard. He is courteous and respectful to all.
