She crossed her arms listening to him, a small grin crossing her lips. "No, dragons do not make Kings. They are the physical symbols of our Gods. They are tools to intimidate and show the power that only we can possess like no other being on Westeros."
"Our blood gives that power of control, that we were given by Valyrian Gods, no other."
"A King is just a man yes, but his thoughts, actions and decisions if..", she points,"If he uses the guidance of his Gods and listens to his people can build his merit, his wisdom and his strength."
"A dragon, the Gods he serves, his heart and his people. Each serves its purpose to guide a King.. To make him what his people need, what they deserve." Nodding slowly, knowing that he was referring to Maegor,"The will of a man is how he shapes it, and the will of a King is something totally different."
"It can be unyielding, unbreakable."

Aegon considered that, sipping his brandy slowly. "And what if the will of a king is wrong?" Aegon asked. "Is it not better for him to choose the better path rather than dig in his heels?" He smiled slightly. "But you make some good points. I am curious to hear what this Valyrian priest will say. I cannot say he is wrong. But if the dragons are gods, I cannot say what my Glutton is the god of. Food?" He chuckled again.

"It is the will of the king to serve his people, not himself. That is why once a man becomes King he uses the words We and Our, not mine or I." She smiled,"He has to decide if his decision will ultimately effect the outcome of his people of his kingdom. The ones that he chose to protect, the ones that he serve. He may rule over his people, but he needs them."
"That is the what it is to be King, your are basically a father making decisions for your subjects, good or bad. Your decisions determine the overall outcome of everything. Your word is law to protect your people."
Her smile widened,"I am sure the priests will enlighten you." Arenya then chuckled,"If Glutton was a God, I am sure he would be or maybe of good harvests, prosperity in crops. But again, the dragons are physical representations of the Gods. The twelve Valyrian Gods are represented by our dragons. Remember that and please do not insult the man", she chuckled.
"Listen to me... Advising you. My mother would drop dead if she knew I had this much to say and it made some form of sense." She drank from her glass. "I have knowledge but I chose to keep it to myself, such is the freedom of not being chose to be the sister-wife of the king in my youth. While he was being groomed to be King and she to be his wife, I was allowed to be where I wanted."

"I agree with you more than you know," Aegon replied, "I am not so sure Maegor does, though." He frowned and looked at his cup, unsure if he had said too much. "Even so. I make it a habit not to agree with my grandmother, and if that means I listen to you all the better," he rejoined with a hint of a smile. "And my intent is to learn, not to criticize. Apparently my reputation has been overblown in that regard, but I promise you that Lyseni bastard was asking for it."

She sighed,"Your father knew me well enough, but I think as we became older." Arenya looked at him,"His focus drifted elsewhere."
Chuckling,"Nephew, I have never agreed with your grandmother. Past, present or future, I think the poor woman would rather have me a Silent Sister than her child at times." She listened to him as he talked about the events in Lys, sipping the remainder of the brandy,"I am sure, but... What will it cost the Realm as a whole?"
"With what happened in Lys, will it effect anything in the West? This is how you have to think. Now if you were protecting your family, then it was deserved. If it was done out of pride, then...." She shrugged. "What will you gain or lose 10, 20 years from now with what happened?"

"It was done to protect my family and to remind the broader world that House Targaryen retains its strength and suffers no threats. If I suffer for that personally, so be it, but it was the right move for our house as a whole," Aegon replied.

She looked at him,"I hear you and I agree. WE should protect our family and we are Dragons and should not bend," Letting her eyes rest on the small amount of brandy in her glass,"but violence has to be to be answered with violence, nephew." Her eyes then fell on his. "And I'm sure you know this, when you're enemies come to collect they're not coming straight for you."
"They're going to attack what you love, everyone with you and save you for last. Have you even taken a moment to settle and assess the situation that was left behind in Lys since your departure?" Tasting the brandy,"These people are not Westerosi people, we do not know them or their tactics."
"Atleast attempt to get a word on Lys while we're here."

"Any harm they deal us we can return tenfold," Aegon answered. "It would not hurt to gather more information on the Lysene, but the difficulty lies in knowing who to trust. It is not as though the Volantene people are stalwart allies of us either."

"Again I agree with you", she nodded. "We'll burn this place to the ground and leave the ashes behind." She ran her hand through her hair,"We are in a foreign land, even if our ancestors came from this side of the water."
"And no, we can't trust everyone that shows us a smiling face because they could be holding a kinife behind their backs."
"But we do need to send someone back or put their ear to the ground to hear something." Arenya sighed thinking,"This is a time we need that bastard Trajan and his bloody spies."

"Darklyn, maybe," Aegon replied. "It'll be a cold day in hell before I rely on Trajan for anything more than a knife in the back. I did send a messenger back on a ship at Lys, so father will be informed of the basics of the situation at least."

"Well personal feeling aside, the man is good at what he does",Arenya shrugged. "Your father seems to have no complaints on his services."
"Aside from that, sending a messenger was good idea." Leaning back onto the softness of her chair again,"But we need some knowledge at current."
"This just doesn't sit right with me. I wonder if the news of Lys has traveled to the ears of our hosts?", she looked at him. "I know I sound suspicious, but we are far from home, Aegon."

"I wager we outraced the news here, but it will follow behind us soon enough." He smiled wearily. "You sound like Brandon now. Your concerns are more valid now than ever, but I have heard all about how exposed we are here in the east. But I see little we can do other than remaining vigilant. Starting an information-gathering network in a city we are constantly flying away from sounds like an impossible task. If you can think of another way, I am all ears."

Arenya laughed at the comparison. "Yes he has a tendency tio rub off on me slightly." "A spy network would take a lot of effort to maintain from Westeros to here, I agree. But it can't hurt to mention it to the King." "Or we could leave someone here that we trust to gather, receive and transfer the information. Could prove not as costly as an entire network, we would just have to guarantee their safety."

"I am not sure we have anyone to spare," Aegon replied, "But once we return to Westeros it would be a good idea to bring it up with the Master of Whisperers." He looked down into his cup only to find it empty, and lifted the bottle to find the same. He chuckled, holding the empty bottle up to the light. "All good things come to an end I'm afraid, even Tyroshi brandy." He rose to his feet. "I should probably head in for the night. I will see you tomorrow? To visit the temple?"

She downed her sliver of remaining brandy,"Very good idea." Arenya grinned at him,"Yes off to bed with you, you look tired and enlightened all at the same time." She nodded at him,"Yes we can venture there in the morning after breakfast, if you like? Hopefully my mother will not have us traipsing around and we can venture off to the temple." She stood, bid him good night and watched him depart. After she was sure he was gone, Arenya donned her armor to provide watch over them with Brandon.

Aegon snorted, amused. "Your mother does not command you, Arenya, nor me. Have a good night." He smiled and left.

She opened the door, partially dressed except for her boots. "Well good morning, nephew", she smiled,"Are you ready?"

"I am," Aegon replied with a smile. He was dressed well but not over-formally, his axe at his hip. "Ready when you are."

Pulling on her boots, and grabbing her sword,"let's go then."
