Near the army camp is a large copse of thinly spread trees, a shallow pond in its center.

Daenya went for a walk in the small forest, wanting to be away from the camp for a while.

After a while, she hears someone whistling a slow, sad melody, very likely a lament for the dead. Ahead, she could see a slender young man with fair hair, facing away from her.

Daenya stopped, seeing the man by himself, whistling.
"He-hello?" She asked, wondering who this man was and why he was so sad.

He trailed off somewhat feebly, though he had shown a clear, strong tone before the interruption. He turned and she saw that he was good looking in a somewhat scruffy way. He was perhaps a similar age to her sister Aemy had been. He smiled and bowed when he saw her, though his sad eyes widened at her bright hair.
"My lady. I am sorry if I am in your way. Would you like me to depart?"
His clothing was a little scruffy but he spoke with the voice of a lord and his tunic bore some southron sigil she didn't recognise.

"No, don't feel you need to leave," Daenya said, continuing towards the clearing. She wore a light purple dress, her arm still in a sling.
"May I ask your name?"

He saw she was injured and stepped a bit closer to her.
"I'm Lord Beesbury of Honeyholt," he said formally. "I...I came here to think about my father and grandsire. Seeing all the dead men made me think of them."

"When... when did they die?" Daenya asked carefully, not wanting to upset Beesbury. "I am thinking of the dead too... too much, really. And the dragons..."

"Yes. I saw the blue one fall," Lord Beesbury said with a little sigh. "It was...sad. My father and grandsire died some years ago. But I don't forget them. So many lives have been wasted in this war. And it's been going on since before our parents were born. I always thought it would last until I died too."

Daenya didn't reply at first, her own mind cast back to the battlefield. She hadn't been herself, but she had still burned those people. So many of them, screaming as their armour melted to their bodies, as they burned to a crisp; eyeballs popping in their sockets, the smell of burning hair, flesh, shit...
She shook her head and looked up at Beesbury. "Well, it is over now. There is no point lingering on it."

"But surely we can't help but remember? I cannot. I dreamed of them last night. All the screaming. It was horrible." He sighed. "I woke up with a man's spear at my throat. That didn't happen during the battle. it was so vivid. Do you dream of it too, princess?"

"Even if I did, it wouldn't be so bad," Daenya replied, thinking of her other self. "Have you heard rumours about me? About what happens in my head?"

"No," Beesbury said. "Should I have?" He looked her over as if the problem were physical. "Is that why you have pink hair?"

She had to laugh at that. "No, not precisely. But... well, I am two people." She looked at the pond, saw little spiders chasing flies across the surface.
"One is me, who is... well, nice I would hope. The other is not so nice."

"That's odd. But does that mean it's not your own choice?" He rubbed his head, frowning. "Wy does it happen to you? Did you bang your head as a child?"

"I don't know why it happens, but it does. And it is out of my control." She sighed and faced Beesbury again. "What I have seen and done as her is enough to make me not dream of this war."

"I don't understand it. What do the maesters say?" But he began to back away as he realised that perhaps Daenya was not a safe person to talk to. He remembered a tale of a boy who had lost his hand.

"They don't know what it is," Daenya replied sadly, watching him step back from her. "I am alright now, Lord Beesbury, there is no need to be afraid."

He hesitated. "Oh. Um, well, are you sure you aren't tired of my company? I would so hate to intrude."

"What gives you that impression?" Daenya asked him, a confused look on her face.

"I don't know. I've never spoken to a princess before," he said. "I didn't want to overstay my welcome, my lady."

"You're a man who has fought in a war, in that battle yesterday and survived... and yet you are uncomfortable talking to a young girl," Daenya said, a small smile on her lips. "What does that tell us?"

"It tells me that I am not accustomed to girls who are blood of the dragon," he said. "I'm sure you would not wish me to give you offence by speaking out of turn."

Daenya cracked a grin, looking the young lord up and down.
"Depends on what you have to say. If I don't like it I might take your head... and if I do, I might do the same."
She winked to highlight the innuendo.

Lord Beesbury flushed and backed away. "My lady...you should not...it is most improper! Please, forget you ever met me." He continued backing away.
