Next to the Targaryens', but rather sticks out with its Velaryon colours.

Daenerys was seated at the small round table, reading a book about Essos. She was dressed in nice riding clothes, convinced that wearing a dress while her foot was still in bandages would look far too unaesthetic.

Arenya enters holding her helm, smiling lightly at the young lady, but her eyes said more. "Lady Daenerys.... I wish a moment to speak with you."

Dany lifted her gaze and returned the Princess' smile. "Please, have a seat," she said, removing her crutches from the seat before beckoning to it. For a moment, she forgot that Arenya had been in another battle, not theirs.

She watched with sadness as Dany grabbed her crutches. Arenya took her seat. "Lady Velaryon..", she cleared her throat as she fixed the words in her head to say to her. "I.. I have word about.. about your father.. And the battle."
Never the one to let her nervousness take control of her thought, but she felt the her heart aching in her decision on whether to tell this young girl that her father died valiantly defending the royal fleet or that she was not able to defend him from his death as she had done before. "Lady Velaryon..", she sighed. "Dany....."
Arenya looked at her,"Your father is dead.... We lost him to the Redwyne..."

Dany's face grew serious as the princess fumbled with her words. Having expected a severe injury at worst, she paled noticeably when Arenya delivered the blow. She blinked, and a tear trickled down her cheek as she shook her head in disbelief.
"No.. Dead? That can't be, he.. he has always been.." her voice broke off. "How?"

Standing watching her, Arenya sighed. "I do not know when it happened. I learned of his passing when we returned to Sun House after the battle." Her eyes locked sadly on Dany,"I am truly sorry. I do not know what else to tell you other than I am sure he did not sure without a fight. That in me eyes he will always be a valiant warrior." "The Gods took him too soon from this world. "

Daenerys didn't really hear the rest of what Arenya had to say. She gave in to the inevitable, covering her face with her hands as she started to cry. After a while, her shoulders were shaking, and she didn't even notice the sharp pain in her cracked ribs.

After a while, her shoulders were shaking, and she didn't even notice the sharp pain in her cracked ribs. Never known for being the most emotional person, she still felt Dany's pain and anguish. Hesitant to touch her, Arenya then slowly pulled Dany into her arms, holding her as she cried. She remained silent as a tear of her own fell.

A few minutes later, Daenerys pulled back, her pretty face tear-streaked and eyes red. She sniffed loudly as she wiped away the tears, but they were replaced so quickly that she gave up on her futile attempt and stood unsteadily to find herself a cloth tissue. Successfully, she returned to her seat and blew her nose.
"Thank you for telling me," she said in a stuffy voice, eyeing the table.

After releasing Dany, she looked down at her teary wet spots on her scabbard, listening to her sniffle. "You are most welcome... I wish I could do more for you besides being a harbinger of unfortunate news."

Dany looked at the princess for a brief moment as she nodded, before her eyes darted back to the table.
"Thank you, but.. it seems as if there is not much to be done anymore. If you could just.. maybe.. I should like to be alone right now," she said.

//////////////////////////////
The day after the news came in that Dany's father had died, Rhaena went to see her best and oldest friend, asusming she'd want the evening to herself.
"hey you," she said, softly, as she entered, and smiled at Daenerys, not entering the tent properly in case it was too soon.

Similarly to the day before, Daenerys was seated at the table, reading the same book, except this time her eyes were slightly red-rimmed and it looked as if she hadn't been sleeping too well. She looked at Rhaena and allowed her a sad little smile in return before turning back to her book. "Did you know that there are slaves, in the far east to Essos?"

"I was aware, yes, why do you ask?" she questioned, entering and sitting opposite her friend.

"No reason. Something I just found out," she replied as she fiddled with the corner of the page, having no real opinion on the matter; it had served as a distraction. It occurred to her that before she had found out about her father, they had been in a battle.
"Oh, how is your leg?" she inquired, meeting her eyes. "I think I saw Ser Hector throw a sword at you. I am sorry I had to leave you."

"You had other things going on, I understood" she replied, implying the crushing blow to her chest and falling off of her horse, "Though I must apologise for not coming to see you, it has been a busy time, but I should definitely have made time for you."

Smiling, Dany closed the book. "And look at us now, all apologies. Everything went well in Oldtown, then?"

"To an extent," she replied, shaking her head, "nothing went quite as to plan as we would have liked, the citadel was taken, but the archmaesters killed themselves, the starry sept is ours, but the high sept on was a doddering old man, and the Hightower literally fell."

"Oh dear. Sounds as if everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong," she replied with a slight frown. "I suppose the important thing is that it is over now.. Although there is still the Arbor to be dealt with. Do you know anything about that?" she asked hesitantly.

"Aegon and some others, Arenya and Trajan I think, have gone to see if they can negotiate his surrender. How a surrender can be negotiated I do not know, but there we have it." She replied to her, frowning, "how are you faring, never mind them,"

"Well, you know how much I loved my father," she replied sadly, looking down at her folded hands. "I just can't believe he is gone."

"I cannot believe it either," she said, still young enough that death seemed far away from her, she thought on what she would do if her own father died, but dark thought were at the end of that path of thought, "he was a brave man, he would have done your house proud, I am sure. " She wanted to ask about Daenerys being Lady of Driftmark now, but didn't think it was the time.
"You know what we should do, now the war is over? Go east, like we always said we would. Get away from all this for a while."

Dany shrugged off her friend's odd implication and when she looked up again, her eyes had somewhat brimmed with tears, but she was able to blink them back. Offering Rhaena a weak smile, she nodded. "I would like that. Mith's wing needs to heal. As do Tyraxes' wounds, most likely?" she added as an afterthought, remembering now that he had been severely injured. "Except I might have some obligations now.. as the Lady of my house."
