Daenya couldn't smile, but she squeezed back, looking down once more at her sister before jumping up and running to her tent.

A few minutes after departing with Aegon, the people gathered saw Maekar stride out of the Prince's tent and over to the dragonfield in haste. He moved quickly to Cyrax's side, undoing the chains that held the dragon to the ground and then launching into the air with an anguished scream.

Daenerys stood on the field long after everyone else had left, processing what had just happened. The Knight Inquisitors had butchered their sister, a Targaryen princess, in the middle of their army camp, but apparently that was considered fine behaviour if there was a letter from the king. She knelt down and closed the princess's eyes, wondering what kind of a family leaves your body behind and asks a distant cousin to take care of it.
Once Dany realized her riding pants were pretty much soaked in blood from knees down, she stood slowly and made her way back to the camp to find servants who could carry the body and take build a pyre.

Trajan had slipped away once the crowd had formed, still humming the whaler's song, mounting Zyraxes and cutting the chains that bound Skysong. It did not take long for the larger dragon to drive off the smaller; a few snaps of his jaws and gouts of flame all it took. It seemed all the fight had been driven out of the beast, its bond to its mistress severed when the sword punctured her heart. Skysong took to the air, instinctively flying east towards Dragonmont.
