Rhaena held back her frustration at not being answered properly, and told herself the man was in shock.
"Thank you," she said courteously, and turned in the direction of the gates to find the remaining 1000 men.

The remainder or the army is in disarray and disorder. The remaining look upon the three dragons with a mix of awe and morbid irony, clearly realizing that with such an escort they would not have been in their current predicament.

After spending a fair amount of time trying to get the army back in even a semblance of order, Rhaena has them march south again towards Highgarden as planned, well, practically as planned.
She tells Trajan and Valarr that at least one of the three of them has to be in the air patrolling the areas at all time, in case of attack, as much to try and ease the minds of the soldiers as much as an actually be on patrol. Even though it was out of her control, she felt like she had failed the surviving men, and it didn't sit well with her.

The remnants of her army made for Highgarden, a journey which took 8 days. With three dragons guarding them, the force was unmolested, though it was little solace to those who had survived.
