Visenya laughed. "Men are foolish, aren't they? But my cousins, and my sister, they have all gone to war right alongside the men. I suppose I am the craven one, and the one most like to use poison." She sombered then, reminded of how she was surely the only one left behind.
"And yes, some are better off dead."

"Maybe cowards are the ones going to war, and strong ones are staying?" Kesi offered. "Battlefield is no doubt being easy as only enemy is one facing you, here enemies can be all around and you not knowing"

She was quiet, her thoughts running riot in her skull. "You see below the surface of things. I appreciate that. It is too easy to see only what is presented as true. Everyone here is involved in a complicated dance and everyone is scheming to trip you when you pass them in the line."
"I'm sure you know the story of my family, cursed for traitors and given no peace merely because of my father's mistake. Half the court wishes we were dead and no longer a threat. If only it was easier to know whom to trust." She laughed. "I would like to trust you, Kesi."

It was now Kesi's turn to be thoughtfully quiet.
"I am not ignorant of your father." She said, she twisted a bracelet around on her wrist. "You are not being trusted for father, I am not being trusted because of people not knowing where I am coming from." Kesi now gave a smile and a small shrug.
"Half the court are being fools and the others are being flatterers to keep own head on shoulders, no?"

"Perhaps we who are outsiders should band together, then." She put aside her empty cup.
"Everyone is trying to save their own skin, even you and I. I think we would be able to help eachother."

Kesi raised an eyebrow.
"And how are you thinking of help?" She asked, but gave a faint smile. "But is sounding good. Maybe is a good idea."

Visenya shrugged. "I don't know. Is there anything you need help with?"

Kesi once again studied the younger girl.
"I am wanting to learn from Princess dowa... dowager?" She said, struggling with a word that she didnt truly know. "I am needing to prove that can be trusted. Maybe you help me with this? I can help you maybe earn trust."

She smiled. "Oh, Laena, the Princess Dowager? She's a very tough lady. Doesn't like me much. But I might be able to help you, so long as she didn't know it was my help."

"She will not be hearing from me." Kesi agreed. "I am needing to find a King enemy and kill. I am not knowing many enemies yet of King, other then who he is telling and he is not."

A smile blossomed on Visenya's face. "That, I might be able to help you with. Are you supposed to provide proof before you kill them, or are you killing without asking questions first? How do you mean to kill them?"
She colored suddenly and put a hand over her mouth. "Sorry, I dont mean to interrogate you. My mouth has run away with me!"

"I am having my ways." Kesi said with a smile. "Proof I am thinking is being better but I am not being told that I am needing to be providing it."
She refilled Visenya's cup.

She automatically lifted the cup to her lips, which twitched somewhere between a smile and a straight face. "I cannot say now, but I think I may have a name for you."

"A name is good." Kesi said. "A name is being further then I am at this moment."
She crossed her legs and shook out her hair so that she could re-plait it.

"So what brought you to the shores of Westeros, to the court of the Targaryen Kings?" asked Visenya, changing the subject. "You seem very intent on making yourself useful. Not to intrude, or anything. I am merely curious."

Kesi's blue eyes flicked up to meet Visenya's then away again.
"Was not a choice of mine." She said, her hands moving slowly and carefully as she separated her hair with a little too much attention. Kesi thought for a few moments, not wanting to tell too much. "I was with trader family." She said eventually. "They come to this land and so I did too. Coming to court was fate."

Kesi led the little group to her room and directed Brusco to put the girl on her own bed so that she could see what was actually wrong with her.
"Gendry, in that bowl is water, and a towel too, will you be bringing it to me please?"

Gendry brought the bowl but spilled a fair portion onto the floor. He fared better with the towel. The young girl lay on the bed, coughing. It was a dry, hacking cough that shook her whole body.

"Is being alright." Kesi said, dipping the towel in the water and starting to wash the girl's face. "I am needing your clothes., Will you be letting me care for you?"

The girl nodded but it caused another fit of coughing. She could barely get any words out at all.
"Please help her," Gendry whispered. "Rosey's been kind to me, give me food when she could. Worked in pot shop before she got sick."
She realised that both of them were probably a bit older than they looked but malnutrition had stunted their growth.

Kesi nodded.
"Brusco? Can you be boiling some water for me please?" She asked, as she reached into a drawer and found her sharp knife, which she used to cut away at the rags that Rosey was wearing. She continued to clean the girl's skin.
As she worked she tried to visually see what was wrong with her.

Brusco set to boiling the water while Gendry hopped from foot to foot in impatient anxiety. Kesi quickly diagnose the problem. Rosey's lungs were affected by the wasting disease and she would surely die if she was not given help very soon. Kesi knew she could brew some potions to ease the coughing and that would help the girl's strength if she was allowed to rest and given proper food. But her survival would still be left to chance.

Kesi knew that if she over loaded the girl on too rich food, or too much then she would get worse and not better.
She covered her with the blankets on her bed and set about to chop the roots that she needed to make the potion, taking a little of the boiling water when she needed to.
"Gendry, be sitting down, you are like to trip one of us up." She said to the boy with a quick smile at him. "I cannot be doing job when falling over you can I?"
"Would you please be asking for some soup for me down at the kitchens Brusco?" She asked her guard and friend. "I am being sorry. I know you are thinking I am a fool."

Brusco shrugged. "It doesn't matter to me. It's your room. I will fetch soup for all three and then my own supper in the great hall. Don't let the boy leave the room."
He left them to it. Gendry sat on the end of the bed, whispering to Rosey.

"Thank you." Kesi said, before he left and continued to chop the ingredients.
"Gendry, be using that water over there to be cleaning yourself." She directed going to Rosey's side and tipping her head so that she could drink what she had just made.
As she always did while tending to someone Kesi started to hum a song that she had known as a child.
