Aerion's nickname was granted to him by his elder brother Baelon due to his massive size and physical presence. He stands at 6'6" and his wide of shoulder and famously strong. Since the death of his eldest brother Aenar, Aerion has grown his hair long and his silver-gold locks grow well past his shoulders. In contrast to his character Aerion's eyes are a lovely colour of periwinkle that some might consider cute.
Lord Aerion shaved his hair clean off not long after Queen Rhaella's demise.
Personality:
Ser Aerion Strongdragon truly is a horrible human being, known to be excessively hostile to friends and foes alike. He is prone to violent outbursts and has few friends. Those he does have are usually only so because they fear for the safety of their kneecaps. It is widely known that Ser Aerion suffers from a terrible affliction of dragon nightmares, dark prophetic visions that give him many a sleepless night. Archmaester Hoodlebum has presented the hypothesis that these nightmares could be the cause of Ser Aerion Strongdragon's deteriorated mental state.
Ever since the death of his brother, Baelor Targaryen, Aerion's personality seems to have become more placid and reserved.
Background:
Upon birth Aerion was gifted with a dragon egg as per the usual Targaryen custom. At age 7, the egg hatched and the process of bonding began. Less than a year later, Aerion was found to have strangled his dragon with his bare hands, claiming the beast to be both pathetic and unworthy of his attentions. This event was of great embarrassment to his father Jahaerys and is only spoken of in hushed whispers. At just 12 years of age, Aerion stood at over 6 feet tall. During the time of Aenar's Folly, Aerion was travelling in Essos at his brother Baelor's behest. It is rumored that upon hearing of his brother's death, Aerion sacrificed an elephant in his honour. When he returned to Westeros several weeks later, Aerion swore his loyalty to King Maegor II though his resentment of his brother's killer is clear. During the wars against the faith, Aerion has typically been used as a weapon by his familial commanders, rather than as a legitimate commander in his own right. This is due to his erratic attitude and mood swings, causing him to be a less than effective strategist. Though he has demonstrated a mind for tactics such as at the Battle of the Arbor when he almost slew Lord Paxter Redwyne atop his dragon Servys. Upon returning from the war Aerion converted to R'hllor, forsaking the Valyrian pantheon.
Lord Aerion Targaryen adopted the flaming heart of the Lord of Light with the three-headed dragon of house Targaryen set in the middle as his own personal sigil.
In the end his arrogance got the better of him. Thinking himself nigh invincible atop his dragon, he foolishly attacked the Eyrie, ignoring its deadly defenses. In attempting to attack the castle's moon door, he was riddled with crossbow bolts from the battlements above. Lord Aerion Strongdragon died screaming.
