I like Harry Potter stuff.

While I enjoy Harry Potter stuff, I think it would be abysmally boring to RP. There's simply not enough action in it to keep anyone's attention for long, imo. It would be another game of 95% dialogue.

What's wrong with 95% dialogue?

There's nothing wrong with dialogue driven RP. While the idea of exploring Hogwarts at an earlier point in history is cool, the issue to me is that we'd be RPing going to school which does seem a bit dull. It might work if the Potterverse was open so we could play aurors and the like.

I would play this. Sorry for not checking in sooner, I feel bad that I missed this! I agree with Zack that it needs to be opened out a bit. I am also worried about the whole high school cliqueyness because it brings back nothing but bad memories for me.

I just finished a hellish month and a half of academic exams...I don't think I want to rp going throguh the wizard equivilant, now with dice rolls to determine your exam scores...I like the auror idea, or something where the dialogue will be more then just what we learned in wiazard school today.
I really like the idea, don't get me wrong, I just can't go back man...I can't go back. O)_(O

Why not have everyone allowed to be an adult and a student if they want to. I would never force 2 characters on everyone but it allows for more opportunities.

Soooooo many horcruxes

surely we'd need a rule about no horcruxes then? remember that only evil people have them. also no deathly hallows.

lol, I just imagined horcruxes in ASOIAF and the amount of them the targaryen's would make alone. Not even all the vaults of lannisport could hold the sheer volume of them.

That is exactly why there should be a no horcruxes rule! Or if there is one the character should be SERIOUSLY messed up because that's just not normal. To be honest, Horcruxes belong more to people in Azkaban than at Hogwarts or the Ministry.

Haha well I didn't intend to be a nice fellow...this is me after all.
Victorian equivalent of Voldemort here we go. I could mirror history and make it a dark take on British jingoism during the period. Take up the pure blood's burden!

The Victorian period also spans a substantial era so we'd have to decide dates and stuff. I like early to mid Victorian, personally, because then you still have people from the Napoleonic Wars hanging around as older people, which amuses me. I could totally see you as some evil guy involved in the Crimean War somehow.

If there is interest in it, I'll start working on a new skill structure for things. The magic would likely involve people to actually know about the spells available.
Also, if people would rather me not admin it, that's cool. just let me know, cause I don't wanna start wokring on it for people not to want to play cause I am gonna admin it.

I once had my Harry Potter period, I must admit, but with time "lost contact" with the series... Anyway, if you guys are in I'm in, it should be fun.
Would it be open only for students or could we play Teachers and other stuff too?

well, fledgling idea of mine is to have two things running parallel. So you can have two characters, one a student, one a ministry member.

I'm still waiting for my letter to Hogwarts University for Mature Students. Funny thing is, if the HP world were real and I were a witch, I'd have been at Hogwarts during Harry's time though I'd have been a few years behind Harry and co.

Although it would divide too much our attentions from a "main plot", guess it could work... When things get boring in one we run to the other until things start to heat up in the previous, and so on. And in that case, Minister Jon, Head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures (Of course I had to google that), presenting for duty.

I think if I made a character, he'd be a young Jonathan Strange or Rincewind or something.
Also, I'm worried about the whole 'Let's stick all the evil people in Slytherin' thing.
