So I assume unit commanders will need to dictate the actions of their units, and how they might react in battle and such? I have never really done anything like this rp wise.

There will be a list of available orders you can issue during a battle each round. It's fairly straightforward. The captain does the majority of the work, but his sub-commanders basically roll to keep up unit morale.

I was considering Status 4 for my character, but as my character is not a unit commander, was wondering if it was necessary.

I think in this instance status should refer ONLY to rank in the company as social status is kind of a non-issue in the aftermath of the Doom, especially when all of us are mercenaries.

Not having Status 4 preclude a character from eventually becoming a unit commander at some stage though? Or does the Status automatically go up to 4 if they become a unit commander through RP?

I'm fairly sure we said it wouldn't make a difference, it's more a case of starting out with the higher rank. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to transfer all these details over to the new site (Zack was doing some of this so he may have done it already)

No one is going to be on their own or it'd complicate the battle rolling a crazy amount. How you interact with your unit and behave in the battle or around camp is up to you. You just need to pick a unit and commander to answer to for the purpose of rolling actual battles and so there's some accountability for you actions. The only one without someone to answer to should be the captain, though he arguably answers to his men. We should also probably cap the irregulars for the time being, as the other units could use some more bodies. Seconded. To be honest, the irregulars should only be people with "special" skills. All main combatants really need to be in a unit. Bro could always be a unit serjeant or something. Dunno how special it will be since Felix is playing the same character as me...

They both sounded completely different to me, but I'm sure no one is going to complain about an overabundance of pretty to look at. Not sure how much an ex-whore and a blackmailing bond girl have in common other than they use their wiles as a weapon on occasion. I already put in the character creation section that if your status increases by rank promotion or being elected captain, you don't have to pay for it. So if a status 2 person is elected captain, they get the bump up to status 5 for free. You're paying for your starting status, so if you aren't commanding a unit you just need 3 or 2.
