Smith asked in the other thread and, since I was pretty bored, decided to put this up.
For myself, I'm planning to play a qohorik, named Jano Turott, leader of a local militia formed by men who didn't trust Qohor's defense being entrusted to Eunuchs. He went sadistic/crazy after Aurion fucked up his family in order to convince the men to join the "Imperial Legion"... Jano joined the expedition for vendetta, when all went to shit and Aurion died he and his men decided to stay with the Company; now he acts as as Commander of one of the Infantry divisions and part time inquisitor.

A Valyrian noblewoman and warrior named Saera (second name undecided) whose family was very wealthy and high ranking. She is possibly a bastard and was considered the family rebel. I was hoping to be an officer of some kind but I'm not sure in which area. She carries a Valyrian steel longsword and has a fondness for wine. She will have a massive chip on her shoulder about no longer being wealthy.

We have 3 units of infantry, 1 unit of archers, 3 units of cavalry, and 1 unit of scouts. Each will need a commander, though we can roll infantry or cavalry up under one commander if there isn't enough interest in the positions. We can get into the nitty gritty of their stats and upgrades later.
Smith has already reserved commander of the scouts as they'll comprise of his irregulars. My character will be under him in this group, likely serving as his second in a variety of functions: interrogator, scout, assassin, and likely unit champion if Smith decides to be one-handed. My character will be an Ashaii ranger type. Ran odd jobs for sorcerers into the Shadow of Asshai to acquire various odds and ends. Ended up in Valyria on a mission to acquire some artifact or other when the Doom hit. Wasn't excited at the prospect of returning empty handed to the shadowbinder that hired him, so took up work as a sellsword. Geralt from the Witcher series is the general inspiration.

I am going to have most of my right hand burnt away. When my irregulars went to kill the upstart general's dragon I got flamed up.
I am playing a Valyrian from the main city who lost his wife and six children on the same day as his home and way of life was destroyed. He came from a political family but as far as he can tell he is the last of his name. He served The commander during the last days and the two are close. He is the steward/purser and also negotiates the deals.
He was a handsome mam before the dragon fire transformed him. Yet he had managed to keep a smile in his own face even in the darkest days. Even now that his smile seems more scarred grimace.

I haven't been following along all that much to anything other then the basics, but is is acceptable to play a Rhoynar infantryman and/or water sorcerer?

Yes to the infantryman. No to the water sorcerer. We set a "no magic" rule as green ronin doesn't provide for it.
As we're setting this after the Doom, the Rhoynar have long been conquered, but there would be plenty of Rhoynish slaves around.
For those considering a Westerosi sellsword, only the Stormlanders and Ironborn would be options in this current erra.

A bard, undecided on nationality (haven't read the Essos portion of the book yet, that'll help me decide), who works with the company as a spy, and presumably does other underhanded-type things.

I'm playing an ex-slave who once served someone politically powerful in the upper crust of Volantis. the bastard daughter of some Volantene bigwig politico. Beautiful, well-educated, well-connected, and dangerous. The Valyrian Bond Girl. I'm certain she could blackmail most of the power players if she chose. Instead, she joined a party of mercenaries. Fun and games, right?
I believe Smith said I could also be one of the irregulars, which I really look forward to doing.

Can I be an archer? I haven't fleshed out the character but I know I want that job...

Sure, you can command the archers or be a member of the unit.

I was thinking an infantry commander, but as there seems a lot of interest in them and none in the cavalry, maybe I'll make a lancer instead. Will have to play around with character builds a little to decide. But either way I'm thinking someone who used to be an auxillary in the Valyrian army, probably ethnically Rhoynish or from one of the Free Cities. Started from the bottom, but was smart and crazy enough to be promoted up the ranks, only to get repeatedly busted back to the rank and file for insubordination and disorderly conduct. Cocky, headstrong, a bit of an ass. But absolutely the right guy to charge into the worst of the action for blood or glory.

The nice thing about this system is that lances and spears both fall under the "Spear" specialty, so you can be good with a lance without sacrificing ability with a spear when on foot. You'll just need to make sure to put some points in Animal Handling, as that's what decides the damage of a lance. Also I'd recommend taking the benefit "Animal Companion (Horse)" as it basically makes you an unstoppable killing machine in the saddle. I did that with Alaric and won the same tourney twice.

I used that trick myself with Cormac Storm on Bloodfeud. It's a nifty trick which feels very strong -- but I guess the drawback is if your horse gets killed, you've basically wasted a Benefit slot.

Think smith has scout commander, as we're counting the scouts as his irregulars. We might have to reconsider that now and replace one of the cavalry or infantry units with one of the more specialized units. I'll take a look tonight. I can always just create an irregulars unit (or use the personal guard stats). Going to have to create stats and cost for elephants down the road anyways.

I believe there is a "Guerrillas" unit -- maybe that is appropriate for your irregulars, which don't sound as though they should be mounted troops anyway. Or perhaps they are not represented as a military unit at all, attaching onto the fighting units for combat but doing their own thing otherwise. It's also not the end of the world if we add another unit on top and have both scouts and irregulars, whatever form they may be.

Alright so lets go with the following then for units:
Infantry (100 Men)-Jon Commanding Infantry (100 Men)-Marie Commanding Infantry (100 Men)-Orys Commanding Archers (100 Men)-Daemon Commanding Cavalry (20 Men)-Horas Commanding Cavalry (20 Men)- Cavalry-(20 Men) Scouts (20 Men)-Varryn Commanding Irregulars (20 Men)-Smith Commanding (Zack, Erik, and Visenya Members)
Bro can join whichever infantry unit he wants. If no one takes the other 2 Cavalry command positions Horas will take overall command of all 3

Ex-concubine who has has some sneaking and Waterdance skills as well as persuasion (surprise surprise...). Gonna ask Smith if I can be part of his Irregulars. Could assume a spy and company-representative role. Will shag people to gain favours.
