As I said in the World of Ice and Fire thread, I'll be putting up, in the next couple months, a new game for your delight! It will be focused on the North (unless you prefer otherwise) and set in the early days of Westeros, the Age of Heroes, information about which I hope to have expanded with the new companion book.
We still have a lot to go through, and to make this great I want a big participation of the community in the creation. I'll also need a co-admin to form our new Duumvirate, so send your applications away.
First of all, I want you guys to choose what format would be best for our play:
Close Ties: Inspired by Dragons Of Westeros, where the players would all be members of House Stark, Bran The Builder has lived some generations ago, and the family will wrestle for the control of the North, submitting Ironborn and Bolton, Glover and Umber.
Family Feud: Inspired by Westeros: Bloodfeud, This one would focus of the most beautiful regional dispute, Stark x Bolton. Set in the same time period as the above, the families shall fight for the title of King of Winter while suffering from the threat of foreign enemies.
Regional Free-For-All: Players will be scattered through the Northern Lordships, ready to fight against their barbaric neighbors.
Continental Free-For-All: Just like the above but Super-Sized, from The Wall to Dorne players will take their thrones and thus do the same thing I just wrote three times above.

I've voted for close ties, as I generally find that shared goals are helpful for cohesion in a group, but I honestly don't mind, as long as there is either no or very little pvp.

I personally would not object to the North but I will put in a vote for the Reach or Dorne.

I'd vote for somewhere not North.

Yo, guys. Well, you see I had all these stuff planned then scrapped it, so yes, it probably won't be North exclusive anymore.
The thing is, I'll only manage to decide wtf I'll be doing when I get a more experienced better writing Co-admin, maybe even to be the main Admin and for I to be the support. It's not that I'm giving up in Admining, yet, it's just that I believe, with the new TWOIAF out, someone more experienced could proportionate you guys a better, deeper RP, while I'll just help out in the creative process.
Plus, after some reading of TWOIAF, I totally want to play in Essos.

I'm honestly bored to death with playing aristocrats. I'm interested in Essos because we'd have a functional Middle-class to play with and a society that actually progresses and evolves. I feel like we've been playing the same characters in Westeros for like ten years...

I'm definetly in for Essos, I'll make a poll to see who else agrees with it... But in that case I believe a "Close Ties" won't be the best option, any idea of how that could work? Any preference of Era to play? Modern Times? Rise of Valryia?

Close ties could still work with a merchant family.

I kind of envision a fantasy equivalent of the Medicis or Borgias for Sforzas. (I'm using Renaissance parallels because it makes the most sense.)

Yeah... That could work out really well. But couldn't it work a little better to separate between two competing families? So instead we'd have a Family Feud setting.

I also like the idea of setting the families in feuding cities, if possible. I'm still reading the section on the Free Cities, but one city or two, I'd definitely sign up.

I only read about the less important ones in that Section (Qohor, Norvos and Lorath)... Qohor is pretty awesome, but I guess you guys might prefer the more famous ones. In fact, it would be easier since we have more background on them.

Ohh just read a part of the book that gave me an idea. And if this "competing families from competing cities" goes forth, I do believe that Braavos and Volantis are great options, since they are complete opposites.

Regarding adminning, well there are suggestions regarding a rotation system (in ooc I think). Maybe that could be used.

I have a feeling the world book will get me jonesing for ASOIAF RP again, but I'm not going to make a comment on the setting until I've actually read it.
Edit: Though back when DwD came out, Ollie and I kicked around the idea of players playing as various mercenary companies in Essos, perhaps shortly after the fall of the Valyrian Freehold, competing for contracts, etc. Or possibly all members of one company along the lines of the Second Sons or Golden Company. Don't know if the world book has any info on that sort of thing, but feel free to take that idea if you want.

The second one would probably be better Horas. Would force people to role play with one another. Just make it a really large band with all the players commanding like different groups. Like heavy cavalry or pikers.
Plus there would be lots of combat. And that idea would work well with rotating admins. Like if admin A commanded the Braavos job. And then their contract finishes and they head east to Ashai for admin B's turn.

^^ That sounds like a great game, we're all mercenaries in the same company. We can work together or compete against each other as we choose, it takes place in Essos, and we don't have to be the same character's we've been so many times before. The rotating admins seems like a really good idea; one person adminning a "chapter" of the game, and then swapping roles for the next "chapter".
I'd play a game like that, and even be willing to admin a contract.
The big question is; what time period would we set it in? We know so much more about the past, now that we have this worldbook, I feel like we could confidently go pretty far into the past if we wanted to.

When is it the most war like in Essos? Right after the Doom? It would be good to have a time where everyone is at war. I do not have the book so I can not check.

I think it's been pretty much constant warfare forever, over there. The Valyrians vs. the Ghiscari, the Valyrians vs. the Rhoynar, the Rhoynar vs. the Andals, everyone vs. the Dothraki, and then after the Doom, the Free Cities are always fighting against each other and shit.
