I know I can't be the only one who has preordered this so hopefully we can chat about it. We need a place to discuss it to protect those who aren't getting it straightaway from spoilers so here goes. I hope anyone who wishes to discuss it will do so in this thread. Thanks guys I hear some places have got it early...I am not that fortunate but it should be coming soon. I'm checking my Waterstones account every day for news of the dispatch. No such luck yet!

That would be interesting. A cartoon is probably the best way to do The Princess and the Queen and The Rogue Prince, because the dragons would probably be so much easier to deal with!
Also, Aranya, are you one of those lucky devils who has it already? Or are you referring to the leaked/preview info from a while back? I was thinking of slipping into town to see if they had it already so I could get a sneak peek but I forgot/had other stuff going on.

I'm watching a live chat with George in New York and oh my god, they are showing some of the artwork. The Dragonstone pic is amazing! George just said that the Targaryens used the dragonfire to change the shape of stone. I never thought about that! And yes, you are so right about the timing. The live chat said there is stuff about dragon training in the book too! A year too late for us I just hope someone gets a RP idea before I do because I so want to be a player next time! I've liked a lot about the show but the more they deviate, the more worried I get. I'm seriously worried about series 5 with all the changes to Dorne and no new Ironborn characters

Well that was a fun discussion. There were actually fewer than usual "repeat" questions/anecdotes, which was a nice surprise. I like that George got to talk about history and religion in the real world as well as about the book and his world. The show was mentioned a few times but it was great that this time it wasn't the focus, as it so often is. The video should be available for playback if anyone is interested: Tumblr discussion

Ok that's weird, the link didn't work for me when I tried just now but it took me to a Google search instead and I picked it up from there. I think the show sets are beautiful for the most part, but of course different to mental imagery, which George himself picked up on. He said the same is true of a lot of the artwork though, sometimes the artists don't represent the castles or scenes how they are described. I always missed the "colour" particularly of the clothing. Some of the clothes are beautiful when you see close ups of the detail but mostly the clothes just aren't as vivid as George's descriptions. My priorities at the moment are AWOIAF and Nanwrimo prep, Nanowrimo, Dragon Age: Inquisition (plus boring stuff like job applications and working if my current job lasts). I probably shouldn't be thinking too much about RP for at least a month But as we know, a new book can change everything.

Mine was shipped today but I don't know when it's due to arrive. Tomorrow would be great but I got the free postage option so I won't be surprised if it takes a few days. Though from what I recall, the free postage option on Waterstones is a little faster than Amazon Super Saver Delivery so maybe I will be lucky. I never pay for postage if there's an option to get it for free.
Apparently some people on the Facebook groups went into stores who had it ready for sale and talked the assistants into giving it to them before time. I wouldn't have the nerve to do that!

I'll pick it up from Barnes and Nobel on the way home from work tomorrow. Can't wait. Hope this rejuvenates our RPing and leads to a slew of new games, as I'm excited to be a player again.

Recently I have been feeling this need for an RP brewing inside me, and now with the WOIAF coming out I may get some more info about the Era I wanted the game to be hosted on (The Age of Heroes).
Well... The thing is: I know some of you are not really fond of moi either because of my personality, my playstyle or my last failed attempt at Admining (9k). I already have something for the Plot and would be willing to put a site up in the following months... It's up to you guys.
Ps: In the case of this actually happening, I'd like to have someone among you as a tutor, not as a co-Admin just someone experienced enough who could guide me so I do not fuck up, again.
EDIT: I think I should have posted this somewhere else for visibility, but since Zack had just commented about heating up the Community again and my post somehow involves the WOIAF companion book... Well it's posted here anyway.

Who doesn't like you? 9k was great until you vanished and I'd happily give one of your games another shot. Certainly don't hold it against you.

Well it's posted here anyway. You know I'll help where I can though I won't be able to throughout November because I am going to attempt to finish Nanowrimo in 20 days rather than 30 so I can start playing Dragon Age: Inquisition ASAP. But after November I would be happy to. I can think of at least 2 people who have expressed interest in playing an Age of Heroes RP in the past though I don't think either of them really wanted to admin, so I could probably get them to play. The only real problem with 9 Kingdoms was that you didn't have enough time, as Zack has already mentioned, but you're not the first admin that's happened to. The game itself was fun and you had an interesting concept. I was a little dubious to begin with as I think I had a touch of RP burnout but once I got started I had so much fun.

I always knew you loved me, Zack! Thanks for the support. I mean, It's no one specifically, it's just that I have a history of making harsh sometimes foolish decisions as a player... You never know. I'm also paranoid when it comes to people's opinions about me, so I always expect rejection for little things.

Nice, Marie!
November will actually be impossible to me, several college admitting exams and such. So December would be my best guess.

Keep us posted then. I think you'll find that everyone who misses RP and wants to get back to it will be very supportive. I sympathise regarding the worry of rejection, I'm like that all the time. I'd suggest a new thread when you are ready to discuss it more. As you said, it would be more visible, and this is the spoiler thread for the new book so I expect some people are steering clear of it on purpose. Haha I know nobody has it yet so it's still safe to read the thread today. Tomorrow will be a different story if my book doesn't show up!

Amazon says I should be receiving TWOIAF this weekend. Pretty excited, though it's going to be tough to wait.

Though I'm picking it up in person, amazon has the convenience of not having to get up off your ass to get something you want, especially if you splurge for the same day delivery.

I haven't seen any promo stuff in my local Waterstones so I am not sure how big a deal the release in my small town. Unless they put the promo stuff up after my last visit. The store isn't very big compared to some branches though, even though it has 2 floors. Might nip into town tomorrow to get some stuff for an interview later in the week so I could try for a sneak peek.

Haha, why do you silly people pre-order? You're going to get it after Tuesday. I don't think there's going to be any lines at the bookstore for this one, there never have been for the novellas and my local Barnes & Noble said there isn't a waiting list. Amazon Prime dude, I'm getting that shit today, delivered to my desk in my office.
